They have just announced that a new living wage will be introduced next year at £7.20. The living wage currently (although voluntary) is £7.85 confused

i thought it was minimum wage and they was just putting a different name on it

Don't think any of it affects me really for now.  The tax credits was the worry but i only have two kids so i don't think it will change

it still kind of matters because 20 hours a week at £7.20 ph rather than 20 hours per week at £5.50 an hour is still an extra £34 a week.  which based on the old £5.50 per hour rate is an additional 6 hours wages nearly for nothing.  (I know it isn't for nothing and it still isn't good enough but just thought i would point that out!)

The old rate was £6.50 a hour.

So basically what this new living wage is, is a new minimum wage for people over 25.

Plus with wages going up then interest rates will surely follow.
