I had a bet on Costa rica to batter Jamaica, so of course Jamaica turned into a half decent side for a game... Twats

Official. Pratley is the new captain. Happy about this. Hopefully he plays like he was doing before the injury. I'm predicting 15 goals from him this season

Just not captain material for me. I just hope it gets the best out of him.

I like him don't get me wrong. Just agree with 1874. Not a leader for me. Not inspirational either.

When was the last time we had an inspirational Captain though? It would have to have been Bergsson i reckon. You need someone to lead from the front and put in the hard work and Pratley will certainly do that.

Okocha, davo.
We're both "inspirational" captains rather than leaders. Pratley is neither.

both great players, no doubting that but neither struck me as great captains when they were. The obvious candidate back in those heady days was Campo but it never happened

Will somebody explain the role of a Captain in this day and age please?
To me this is more of a figurehead than doing much of anything on the park.
Some are suggesting signing an average player who might be a good captain ....and that will make us better somehow

The same as any captain in any sport of context. To lead, organise and motivate.
Don't underestimate it's importance just because it's not right in front of your face.

the best example was Mike Brierley captaining the England cricket team, an average player but a great leader

Captains ether are great leaders or great inspirational players.
The best ones are obviously both.
We don't have that luxury.

You bellend.
Ignoring the fact that an average player would automatically be our best player, this team has been devoid of character and leadership for many years now - if you can't understand what this sort of player can bring to this bunch of ponces I can only assume you've had a lobotomy.

Thank you for your kind words ..... now explain the magical influence of an SKD on the team. As my memory goes I have never seen SKD raise his voice, get in another players face or even take charge of a freekick. Yet widely regarded as a great Captain...... Nobby Nolan I can see.....also since all players are ponces what choice do we have.

A great captain is judged on taking over a free kick?
As for getting in a players face, any Bolton fan who doesn't remember Davies crashing into Evra as soon as he could should be released.

Your lobotomy was a 100% success. I don't know anyone who regards SKD as a great captain, I can't even remember him being captain if I'm honest.
