Dean Moxey has called for Wanderers to put Friday evening’s pre-season defeat to Morecambe behind them as quickly as possible.

Having completed 70 minutes of the Whites’ friendly fixture at the Globe Arena, the defender admitted that the reverse at the hands of the Shrimps is one which the squad will not be dwelling on.

“It is disappointing – although it’s nice to get some more game time under our belts, we need to be winning games alongside getting our fitness up to standard,” said Moxey following the game.

“We’re disappointed to have come to Morecambe after a good ten days out in Austria where we’ve worked really hard and come away empty handed.

“At the end of the day, we’re still gelling as a team as there’s been a fair few changes during the summer. That isn’t an excuse though – we need to start performing and getting results too.”

Reflecting on the club’s recent training camp in Austria, the 29-year-old believes that the preparations undertaken by the players and efforts put in will ultimately stand the squad in good stead during the remainder of pre-season and into the new campaign.

“Austria was tough, but it’s all in the bag now and we’re ready to kick on and put the hard work to good use.”

Moxey also paid tribute to his teammates for their exploits since returning to training, adding: “The new boys are doing really well so far - Gary Madine’s come in and he’s taken to us straight away which is great, while Ben Amos who was with us last year has settled straight back in.

“The younger players have done really well too, especially at the back – obviously Quade Taylor played against Birmingham towards the back end of last season where he did really well on his league debut, while Hayden has settled in well after being out on loan a bit so that’s always promising.

“For us though, we’re now looking towards Oldham on Tuesday where we’ll be going all out for victory.

“Everybody says that it’s important to get the game time under your belt, but getting wins is important too and we need to start picking them up.”

Seriously, just fuck off.

Ignoring the fact it's their fucking job to turn up, they've lost three times on the trot to shit teams.

I couldn't care less about the defeats, what I do care about is shit players trying to make out the squad are heroes.

Has this guy ever had a good game for us? We need Zat Knight to issue a rallying call IMO.

When we signed Moxey I thought he would be good for us, always did well when I saw Palace on TV, up to now he has been bobbins, starting with the first game of last season at Watford when he almost gifted them a goal in the opening minutes. He should be a shoe in for a starting place every week considering how desperate we have been for full backs , shows how bad he's been if we haven't picked him regularly.

I was at Watford that day and Moxey was woeful. Another DF signing that hasn't been justified.

I understand that he has to be positive for the media but getting humped by Paderborn and then losing to Morecambe is poor by anybody's standards and I'd be a lot happier if he'd admitted we were shit and that we need to improve dramatically if we are to have any chance of survival.

That's the attitude I'd expect our players to have ATM - realistic and determined.

The irony is that the club put out positive messaging to lift spirits but when it's obviously avoiding the elephant in the room it tends to have the opposite effect.
