In-form Gary Madine is the perfect man to lead the Wanderers front line.

That's the view of Wanderers keeper Ben Amos who is delighted his fellow summer arrival is up and running in the scoring charts after netting in his last two outings.

Amos moved to the Macron Stadium in the summer from Manchester United and got his first glimpse of his fellow new recruit in pre-season when Madine bagged four goals.

His start to the Championship campaign may not have been as prolific but he broke his duck with a late leveller against Brighton and then opened the scoring at QPR a week ago.

Amos says he always had faith Madine would get goals after what he witnessed in pre-season and feels he is a striker who has all the attributes to be a key player for Wanderers this season.

The 25-year-old stopper said: "He’s done really well in the games we’ve played so far.

"He puts himself about but not only that, he gets the ball on the floor and causes problems as well.

“It’s always good to have that kind of all-round centre-forward and we’re hoping he’ll stay in this kind of form now.

“He’s got an old-fashioned kind of style.

"He can score all sorts of goals – we’ve seen volleys, headers, tap-ins in pre-season. He has got it all.

“He’s also got a lot of energy and you definitely need that in the Championship."

While thinks are now looking up for Madine, it has been a tougher time for Amos at the other end of the pitch of late.

After a promising start defensively, the Whites have started to leak goals.

And that has seen Amos picking the ball out of his own net 10 times in the last three matches.

But the keeper, who signed after a successful loan spell from Old Trafford last season, says the team spirit remains good despite the lowly league position and just one win in 10 Championship games so far this campaign.

And he hopes they can show that when they return from the international break at Burnley in seven days' time.

Amos added: "There is a vibrancy about the team and some competition for places too.

“The thing in football is it can all change very quickly.

"But at the moment there’s some good team chemistry and everyone wants to achieve the most we can together."
