I would stay away from the Hardys Varietal (VR) range, they do taste a little cheap to me.
Some of the Hardys stamp rage are quite nice such as Semillon Sauvignon Blanc also priced at around £6.
Wolfblass Yellow Label is another good day to day bottle so to speak although that is the Chardonnay priced around £7 which you have stated you don't like, although they do have a Red Label range where they have a Chardonnay Semillon priced around £5 which I find nice and maybe worth taking a chance on?
We use a Hardys Stamp Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon in our home made beef and mushroom pies and isn't a bad slurp either which is also another one to look out for.
These are all Australian wines BTW which I'm sure you already know.

Anyone remember Alice King the wine expert for the Daily Mail years ago?
She appeared on various cooking shows and remember her featuring on one of Delia Smith's Christmas Episodes.
She turned out an alcoholic in the end and lost pretty much everything which is such a shame.
So remember everyone to drink responsibly and don't spill a drop!

I like chateauneuf du pape, y2j, but it can be v v pricey, unless you know somewhere you can get good deals...I wonder what such a place could be called, where you can buy your booze at bargain prices....y2johnny wrote:I made a sensible suggestion and got told off for it
