You know what, I'm sick and tired of people who drink and drive. Everyday there seems to be a story about some celeb who thought they'd save a few quid by driving home after a piss up.

Sale Sharks bellend Danny Cipriani is the latest high profile tosser to get caught, as he crashed his Mercedes into some poor bugger at 5am.

I have no doubt we'll hear some excuses in the next few days. His goldfish died, his girlfriend ditched him, he's depressed or other such shite. Just like that other drink driving twat Clark Carlisle.

But non-celebs are just as guilty, there's still a culture that a couple of pints will be fine. I've recently ended a 20 year friendship with someone I went to school with after her brother was sent to prison for running over an elderly man while pissed. She thought he shouldn't have been sent to prison as he was "only a little over the limit".

Are you a drink driving twat? Do you risk driving home after a few drinks.

they should change the rules so that no alcohol is allowed, everyone knows where they stand then.

Laudable, but sadly almost impossible to police.

Alcohol can occur naturally in the body so you may see people prosecuted for false-positive tests.

Equally, swilling mouthwash before you set off for work may also result in a positive test.

Watch it now if you have a couple of pints, some might be over having just two.

They'll be pulling people over for fun with it coming upto Christmas.

2 pints is 2 too many Scott, don't take the risk don't drink at all if you are planning to drive.

The Police can pull as many over as they want for me, pick on the idiots on their phones as well while they're at it Mad

Say if you have eight pints on a Saturday night, your last pint is at 10pm.

When do you think that you'll be ok to drive the next day?

I believe , as a rough guide, its an hour for each unit, not per drink/pint. Not sure what constitutes a 'unit' though.

4pm

That is going off an average % of alcohol for beer which is 3.2% - 2 hours per pint plus an extra 2 hours to clear the blood stream as it slowly enters the blood stream to begin with.

The higher percentage the longer it takes, because the higher the percentage the more units you are drinking!

Average of 3.2% is 2 hours whereas something like Stella or San Miguel which is 5.2% then its more like 3 to 3.5 hours per pint.

Do hat I do if I know I am drinking after work - get public transport ot work, drink, get taxi or public transport back home and then have a good rest and know when you should be able to drive again and don't drive until then.

Such as last night - 2 pints in Dockyard (Spinningfields), 4 pints in The Lawn Club (Spinningfields), 1 pint in Town Hall Tavern (behind Manchester Town Hall) then train and taxi back to Claremont Arms (formerly known as The Lamb on Halliwell Road) for last 2 pints and a bit of karaoke then cross the road and up the street to home - not driven yet (mainly because of weather, but soon nipping out to Asda but will be more than sober enough to drive)
