He hasn't paid the players.luckyPeterpiper wrote:If it bothered him he would have paid them. Simple stuff really. As Breadman points out he had the money to pay the players who are on far higher wages than people like office staff so it was a choice brought on by commercial self-interest. I don't think it's a wild speculation to say that's Eddie's motivation under the circumstances.wanderlust wrote:Conversely if you've been paid for the last 11 months and have the choice between receiving one more months pay and then being laid off or being paid late and having a job to go to in the future I'd have thought most folk would prefer to wait and keep their jobs.luckyPeterpiper wrote:Lusty, in answer to your question about the staff preferences I would ask what's the point in having a job if you don't get paid for it and get left skint at Christmas? Personally I think this shows Eddie's true character to a T. He paid the players in order to protect an asset that might bring him money back. The much lower paid staff who needed the money a lot more don't have a commercial value so he didn't give a damn about them, they can go skint at Christmas and it won't bother him for a moment.
As to your insight into EDs mind, I've absolutely no idea if it bothered him or not and neither have you, so why speculate?

Thank you Barb. I wonder what caused them to report Eddie had paid the players in the first place?

From Nixon, asked if the Warburton's are stepping in to pay staff and players.
Nixon: It's down to Davies to pay.
Fan: by rights it is, but what's right is out of the window now and any solution acceptable
Nixon: Davies has no option here ... he was told ... u can't under-estimate how bad this is becoming.

We already owe the Warburton's about 2.5 million because they stepped in to cover wages earlier in the year. I doubt they'll step in again when it looks like they're not going to get what we owe them already as it is.

I was told rightly or wrongly that Warbys have a claim on the car park due to that earlier payment. Prime land that!
