Is the Walking Dead worth getting on DVD?

I've watched the pilot and fairly enjoyed it.

Special effects as good as you will see. Season one excellent, season two awful.

I might pick up season 1 then. Thanks for the tip.

I wouldn't recommend Boardwalk Empire. It had a lot of hype but it didn't live up to it. Bit of a waste of Steve Buscemi. I watched the whole first series but couldn't be bothered with the second series.

If you aren't watching Homeland already I would recommend the box set when it comes out. Also The Bridge. I haven't tried any of these Scandinavian thrillers before but this features a female detective with an interesting personality and is well plotted and entertaing provided you don't mind sub-titles.

Boardwalk Empire is fantastic.

Hipster Nebula and xmiles must be philistines.

It's a slow burner, it is one of those dramas that rewards viewers who appreciate subtlety and seeds being planted for later events.

That, and I find Kelly Macdonald dressing in 1930s outfits, being puritanical but covertly cunning and putting on an Irish accent fascinating and incredibly sexy.

For me the main problem with Boardwalk Empire is that I simply didn't believe in the main characters: Nucky, Alden and Margaret. Their roles were cliches and didn't convince. Compare them with the characters in The Sopranos - they had much more depth and were believable.

Plus I find Paz de la Huerta far more of a turn on than Kelly Macdonald who looks like Karen Brady's twin sister.

Paz de la Huerta is a dirty bitch who needs bending over and given a right good seeing to, I'll give you that, but there's no mystery in that.

How you can say Kelly Macdonald looks like Karen Brady's twin sister I don't know. Macdonald needs smashing up too, but you'd probably have to take her for a Nandos first.

A bit like Marie, jizz gargling queen of south Manchester.

I like Boardwalk Empire, but it's a bit slow. Characters are basically good, but I always want to see a bit more from them - a lot of complexity but not tied into the plot enough - although that's maybe because the story line moves on so slowly. And when's Al Capone going to kick off? Seems they're stretching it out a bit.
Like Steve Buscemi as an actor and he plays Nucky well - a comedic villain.

I've just bought the first series of Boardwalk Empire off eBay for £20 including p&p.

Enjoy. The pilot is the most expensive ever made and was directed by Martin Scorsese.

The only thing I dislike about Boardwalk Empire is the opening credits - they just don't fit the show IMO.

I don't like the music or the brightness.

You lying shit.

I watched the "finale" last night and have had more fun at an Owen Coyle post match press conference. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the worst endings in living memory.

I thought the ending was great, fantastic tension in the final episode and then a nice cliff hanger.

Doesn't mean everyone has to like though.

The whole episode was boring as hell, and bloody predictable. Hipster out!

I'm sure the writers are gutted you didn't like it lol.

Sadly TV shows don't always go the way we want, for example i loved LOST, but absolutely hated the ending, that said, taken as a whole i loved the series.

As a whole, Homeland was an excellent series for me, and (without spoiling it) some of the things that might have made the finale "exciting" would have spoiled the flow for season 2. It does annoy me when people don't get the ending or plot they want and then declare a whole series "shit."

Some decent TV shows have had truly awful, abysmal endings over the years, haven't they.

The Brittas Empire - about 10 seasons of slapstick comedy - the only BBC sitcom in the 1990s where people died horribly on a regular basis - turned out to be a daydream of Gordon Brittas's on his way to the job interview for leisure centre manager.

The Prisoner - a secret agent is kidnapped and imprisoned in a custom-made village full of other people who have resigned from highly secret jobs, months of interrogation, symbolism and allegory blown out of the water when it got cancelled at short notice after only 17 episodes and the ending was beyond comprehension.

V (the original, not that remake shite) - 4 seasons of intergalactic conflict ended on a tame cliff hanger over whether someone stowed away on a ship.

Eldorado - OK this is the opposite, a wank TV show with a good ending. Marcus Tandy sailing off into the sunset with the bad guys' money.

Lost was compulsive viewing. It was impossible to predict the ending because there had been so many twists and turns that my neck ached.

(SPOILER ALERT)

I have to say the "we have to go back!" moment in lost was immense, the way they flipped the flashbacks to flash-forwards was genius writing.

I'm sure cleverer people saw it coming but i didn't and i loved it.

My other favourite moments were revealing the inside of the hatch and michael shooting Ana Lucia and Libby.

Michael shooting Anna Lucia and Libby was such a shocking off the wall moment. No-one would have predicted that one.
