Dexter is back and still good. Great ending to the first episode of the new series too.

Anyone seen the film, Me, Myself and Irene? Such a great performance from Jim Carrey. The supermarket scene had me in stitches.

Yes, very funny film! The PC brigade probably wouldn't allow a film that makes light of schizophrenia to made these days.

If you watch it on dvd and compare it to the version the likes of ITV and BBC put on the TV you will notice they have cut quite a lot out.
I see Carrey is making a new Dumb and Dumber.

I'd love him make The Mask 2.
That son of the mask film they made a few years back was woeful.

Anybody watch the 'Toughest Place' series on BBC, I highly recommend it if you don't.
The idea behind it is that you take someone doing a job, say a nurse or a miner and take them to someplace in the world where they try do their job but it seems to be a million times harder.
For instance the nurse was taken to Mexico where the drug gangs are killing each other - even going into the hospitals to kill their wounded rivals - and the staff are under everyday threat of being kidnapped for ransom - all this being only a few miles away from the USA boarder.
Why the fuck anyone would risk their lives daily to help others is beyond me - but they do - and thank God for that.
The iplayer below is about a London Taxi driver, attempting to do his job in Mumbai.
This programme is on two levels - like all the others are too - the challenge of doing the job - which is hard enough in itself - but also a more human level of seeing how normal people in other country's live and the hardships they endure - not because they are brave or anything but simply because that is how life is for them each and every day.
Really is worth a watch if you can spare an hour.

Did anyone catch the Paul Merton ''Hollywood'' thing on bbc4, I don't tend to watch anything on there but I am a movie buff and it was really interesting to see some of the old none talkey films back in the late 1890s and early 1900's.
He was talking about a very controversial film called ''The Birth of a Nation'' - not sure if anyone has ever heard of it.

Cheers Sluffy, the clips they showed last night was enough.
Can't see a film like that being made today, the press would have a field day.

Crimewatch is back on at 9pm tonight. It's one of my favourite programmes. Since the austerity measures have kicked in, I have found it an ideal source of income, plus I get the opportunity to grass on my neighbours.

Pointless. I'm in two minds about it. On the one hand it has all the ingredients for a brilliant general knowledge quiz i.e tons of possible answers for each question instead of just one. Plus it has the added layer of working out what you think most people will know. Love the format - so much better than other quizzes where you have to wait 10 minutes to get one answer.
On the other hand, they pad out what should be a snappy half hour show into an hour. They have Alexander Armstrong and some other guy attempting witty banter and they spend ages chatting shite with the contestants.
I record the programme so I can fast forward through most of it to the business end i.e. the quiz. Can't decide if they've ruined a brilliant format or whether I should just accept the padding in order to get the multiple answer stuff that no other quiz provides.

It's a good one to watch with other people. Rather than one person shouting out the answer first everyone can come up with one and see how has the best. I'm not too bothered about the pacing of the show to be honest.

If you're a fan of the Scandinavian "thrillers" that did the rounds i would recommend the new show "Top of the Lake" - a NZ production, only saw the Pilot but it made me want to watch another episode.

Broadchurch is pretty good in a similar kind of way.
