Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

I suppose how retro the programme is depends on your age, but what were your favourite television programmes from years gone by that are not around anymore?

I'm just trying to think back and I can really only remember watching The Bill, so I'm hoping you lot can jog my memory a bit.

Ghost Hunting With The Happy Mondays used to be a cracking TV show. It really was first class entertainment but you don't seem to see it on much these days.

There used to be shows every weekday, after the news. The ones I remember are;

Petticoat Junction,
Gilligan's Island
Fort 'F' (I think, Fort something anyway)
Hogan's Heroes

Other shows:
Cannonball
Whirlybirds
The Army Game (with Bootsie and Snudge)
It ain't half hot Mum
Flash Gordon

Only in America would they make a series based on the idea of someone's dead mother coming back as a car!

The other day I was trying to think who Gary Lineker reminds me of with his little goatee beard. Then it came to me - Worzel Gummidge of course - he's a dead ringer! That used to be an enjoyable watch of a Sunday teatime with Una Stubbs and the rest.

Back in the day old Worzel was guest of honour at Westhoughton Carnival and came riding round town on the back of a horse and cart - that's another honour Lineker will never achieve.

I still watch them all now and it drives my missus loopy, anytime i do get to sit down and put something on i always look for one of the above.  I used to sit and watch them with my Grandad all the time when i was younger and as you get older you start to notice jokes you originally missed because they are so clever.

Catweazle was brilliant. Although they rather spoilt the 2nd series by making it with an eye to the American market.
Still a joy though.

Anyone remember 'Callan'? A show from the late sixties featuring Edward Woodward.
Think they made a film of it too.
