I remember us sticking five past them a few years ago.

I thought it was an excellent game. Good ole Woy, proving to be an excellent manager.

I agree. So much pace throughout the side. I'd want Vardy starting though, he looks dangerous every time he goes near the ball.

I've suffered years of this. It's the hope that kills you.

First 55 mins we struggled to create anything and i thought Germany always looked like they could move up a couple of gears. We played a lot better as a pressing attacking team than a stand off organised side.
Vardys goal though. Oh!

Definitely, Vardy for Welbeck all day. I'd also find a replacement for Henderson but other than that that's the side id play in the Euros. Rooney and Sterling can do one

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!
Brilliant performance. Looked well organised and apart from their second goal we were solid at the back as well. We were a constant threat going forward and the goals from Kane and Vardy were superb. Like Boggers said, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching England play. The Germans put a good side of there tonight and we played them off the park. I know it's only a friendly but definite cause for optimism for a change.

I thought it was fairly even and Germany could easily have had 3 or 4 goals as well, but it was much better than I expected. Just when I thought we were starting to look tired playing that high pressing game, on come Vardy and Barclay and kept the tempo going. Danny Rose was the stand-out surprise performance for me - he was excellent and had Schurrle and the other winger in his pocket as well as creating loads going forwards. Henderson was invaluable in the trenches - not pretty to watch but necessary, however I'd like to have seen Drinkwater being given a chance in that role. Great result made better by some well taken goals even though Germany weren't at their best. Our defence didn't fill me with confidence at times but it was good to see Cahill leading his country by example. And that performance was without Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rooney, Stirling, and Wilshere.
Average age only 24 so we can expect them to be world class in say 3 years time so I'm thinking we have a better chance at the World Cup than the Euros.

I bet Rooney is first name on the teamsheet when fit, which by and large is just wrong, should be nowhere near a start.

He's 30 now so I hope he's gone by the time we get to the WC but we need a big squad for the Euros and he has quality. The players last night certainly showed they can cope without him. Isn't he still captain?MartinBWFC wrote:I bet Rooney is first name on the teamsheet when fit, which by and large is just wrong, should be nowhere near a start.
