Just watching "The Carole King Story" on Beeb4 and never realised what an influential character she was.
Always dismissed her previously - my bad, as the kids say nowadays.
She wrote some decent songs.....
It's too late is a classic:
But that was back in the day when singer/songwriters were cherished and promoted, as opposed to the "marketable acts" we have now, who have no inherent talent and sing whatever they're told to just so the likes of Simon Cowell can make even more cash.....
And she's now an environmental activist......which is a great.
Nice one, Carole.

He began writing Homeward Bound on Widnes railway station if I'm not mistaken. As for Carole King, she rather passed me by at the time,I was far more into Joni Mitchell. Love Tori amos too.

There's been some stuff on recently about Singer Songwriters on BBC4. There was one Friday before last about Jimmy Taylor and Carole King and the Troubador Club in LA, great stuff. Jackson Browne, Joni, Eagles and David Crosby were all interviewed, good watch.

Lennon and McCartney had a mention a couple of posts ago but the big brit songwriter for me was Ray Davies. Much preferred the Kinks to the Mopheads to be honest.
