Not really.

I was talking Medium Wave.

Nowadays it's the sole preserve of minority sports and shipping forecasts.

(The dog's just farted and I can't think of anything else funny to say - Jesus......that's rank.)

You'll love them 58. Timeless books for proper footy fans.

As for the plate,I borrowed it off Mary.

Our dog only ever farted when we had company.

Everyone used to look at me.

Including the dog.

Not a football autobiography but a book I enjoyed a few years ago is Achtung Schweinhund by Harry Pearson. You will probably enjoy this if you have fond memories of Airfix and are of a certain age.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

My dog is not allowed to eat Butchers food (the tinned dog food, not the actual butchers on Coniston) anymore as the farts were horrendous.

That also concludes the derailing of another fine thread. Nice work chaps.

Too late with a book recommendation as yet another thread gets completely off topic.

Read that!

And I fully endorse this recommendation.

If you are of a certain age (born between 1935 and 1970, so Bonce is out) and you spent hours in your bedroom, half smashed out of your head on polymer cement and thinners, it'll resonate with you.

Top call, Miles!

'Flick to Kick: An Illustrated History Of Subbuteo' is pretty good too.

That age crack will be remembered when my new batch of pandas arrive.

I'm working my way through the Chronicles of Narnia books by C. S. Lewis. Children's books and high fantasy, but quite entertaining. Currently winding up The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I have over 400 books on my phone, so this was as good a choice for "Next Book/s To Read" as any.

Read them many times. Really into 'Talking Books' at the moment.

Audible.com are a great source, and I can download and listen to them at work.

Classic English Literature.

Everybody should read them.

Lewis was a genius and his books were (and remain) brilliant.

I re-read them a couple of years ago and they're still fantastic.

Good choice, mate.

I remember buying the set with book tokens I won when a kid, they were awesome and as a kid you practically lived them while you were reading them.

if you like footy books i've read a few over the years well worth a read and better than the usual bland biographies

Provided you don't kiss me, 20 years with Brian Clough by Duncan Hamilton
Football against the enemy by Simon Kuper
McIlvanney on football - a collection of Hugh McIlvanney's articles
Hand of God, biography of Maradona by Jimmy Burns
Barca, a people's passion also by Jimmy Burns

There used to be a fantastic sports book shop in Manchester near St Anns Square called Sports Pages (i think?) but it's gone now, spent a lot of time in there
