The most important factor on here is the people themselves. Can we not think of something that shows/tells more about us, such as a people file.
I'm aware that many are, most sensibly, wary of putting personal details on the web but are there not other things, like hobbies, work, likes/dislikes.Better still, why don't we have a picture of a poster, made up by the other posts, and then corrected, or not, as it develops, by the actual poster ?
I think we'd be surprised to see how others see us
What about:
Technical section, eg for computers, or software..
Financial advice
Fashion, (yeah, I thought not as well
)
TV
Cars/driving
Bread making
Brucie impersonations
Just a thought.

I post when I feel I have something worthwhile to say.....however debatable that may be in the eyes of the other posters! I'm too busy to post much more often than that but I like to read the funnies and opinions on all things BW when I get the chance.
Have to say that long-drawn-out inane nonsense is a turn-off, especially when it descends into disrespectful, personal slanging matches or attempts to prove some sort of misplaced superiority...but these posts are no more tedious than the condescending, know-all posts based on asserting opinions as if they are indisputable facts. How can anyone presume to know the motivations of others? That's when I press the logout button rather than join in.

There was a time when we had a really broad range of opinions, held by posters articulate enough to put them across really effectively. I'm not sure we have that on the same level now.
Take Okocha's comment above (hope you don't mind me doing so) but when people would rather log out than argue their case then any forum would struggle.
