I hope Andy Woodward gets on the list.

What he's done in courageously speaking out, goes way beyond winning a cup or a belt, and may prevent many other young boys and girls from suffering a similar horror.

Truly horrific reading about all the players now coming out. Imagine how many men who didn't progress to a career in football there may be out there who may now feel they can come forward.

In retrospect I'm surprised it's took so long to come out.

Bennell is a loathsome bloody reptile who has been at it for years and for the football authorities to feign ignorance is shameless.

Bennell's name was mentioned during Gary Speeds inquest because as well as coaching him, Bennell also coached Alan Davies who went on to play for United and committed suicide in 1992.

Back on topic. I'm certain Andy Murray must be a shoe-in for this award.

Judging by some of the names on this list Liam Trotter must be feeling a little frustrated tonight.

I'd say Murray too.

There are so some worthy of winning also - but won't.

Adam Peaty who is a class of his own in swimming - he really is head and shoulders in front of the best of the rest.

Max Whitlock - the first British gymnast to win an Olympic gold ever in the modern era (the last was in 1908!) - this in the era of worldwide doping from some country's.

Nick Skelton - ok I don't like show jumping and it is an exclusive sport that most country's don't compete in but this bloke not so long ago broke his back and at an age where many have long since retired from the sport he learned to walk again and go on to win the Olympic gold.

Alistair Brownlee - showed what an iron man he is by winning consecutive Olympic golds at the Triathalon - and if that wasn't enough his younger brother took silver!

Mo Farah - I can't say I like him and he is tainted with a possible doping connection but he did win the double-double - two Olympic golds at two consecutive events. Our best athlete ever in a British athletics vest.

The Kenny's - Jason and Laura. - Bolton's own boy won three Olympic Golds and his new wife two (she becoming the most successful Olympic British woman) and they are both so talented over such a long period now - Jason 3 Olympics, Laura 2), that there wins seem just 'ordinary' and 'expected', so much so I don't think anybody expected them to lose.

Still I think Murray deserves to win - another Olympic gold, another Wimbledon and now world number one in front of Novak Djokovic.

Fair play to him.

Although Murray has done exceptionally well, I would prefer to see another athlete win it, and any of the ones Sluffy has named would be good.
However, this award is also about personality is it not, so what about a paralympian ? These people have not only excelled in their sports, but also overcome tremendous personal problems to do what they have.

If it's about personality Laura Trott must be up there, she's so bubbly. I'll bet Jason can't get a word in! It's a good job he's a miserable sod.
