Rotherham United boss Paul Warne has confirmed his interest in Wanderers striker Jamie Proctor.
The Bolton News understands the Millers have had a bid accepted for the 25-year-old front man – but that Doncaster Rovers and Walsall are also willing to match their offer.
Proctor spent the tail end of last season in League Two with Carlisle United after a fruitless spell at the Macron, which saw him score just once in 29 appearances.
But the former Bradford City and Preston North End striker is the type of player Warne thinks can help Rotherham bounce straight back from relegation this season and is hoping to bring him to South Yorkshire before pre-season begins next Thursday.
“I am interested in him,” said the Millers manager, who took over full-time at the New York Stadium this summer. “I do like him. I like an out and out ‘nine’, someone who can hold up the ball.
“He’s athletic, and he brings other players into the game.
“In my team, with the midfield I’ve got, I think he would get a lot of chances to score.
“He is one on my list to try to get but he’s not the only one on there.”
Wanderers have declined to comment but we have learned they are asking around £75,000 up front for Proctor, plus bonuses.
Meanwhile, former Whites striker Craig Davies landed himself a new club yesterday, signing a two-year deal at Oldham Athletic.
The Welshman played for two seasons at Bolton, scoring 10 goals in 53 league appearances.
