So our season kicks off in just over two weeks. Right now where are you on the whole Owen Coyle debate? Is he the right man or are we just delaying the inevitable by keeping him as manager?

As things stand, what are your feelings about Owen Coyle?

It's the middle one for me.
This could either be a break out year for Coyle or it could be a bit of a flop. But thats almost as much down to the unpredictability of the championship as it is down to Coyle himself.
I really want to see Coyle put his much talked about "stamp" on this team, if he gets us passing the ball I'll be very happy indeed.

Me too. I wouldn't be half as Anti-Coyle as I am if we'd gone down trying to play football. It's the fact we didn't seem to have any style whatsoever that pisses me off most.

I'm with Hipster on this one - we should get promoted relatively easily, but Coyle disappointed me last season with some of his decisions so anything is possible at this stage.

I have no doubt Owen will get us promoted. He made some mistakes last season but the players let him down big time. COYW!

He was doing a good job in his first full season when he had 11 fit, in form players - how you perform when you don't have that is the biggest indication of your abilities as a manager.
It's all become a little predictable and tiresome on the Coyle front.

I'll give him 10 games but I don't expect promotion.

Second bottom for me, pretty much same reasons as Doffcocker.
A fully fit and in form side including, Holden, Elmander (in form), Lee and Cahill, covered his tactical shortcomings for a while. He was unlucky to lose all of them in such a short space of time but if he'd just had a bit more tactical awareness last season, ie in the substitions, selections and formations he chose we would of stayed up.
I do like the guy though, and his ideas- bringing youth through and playing a passing game. Although they are yet to transpire, I'm hoping he's learnt something from last season and realises it wasn't just bad luck that got us relegated, I'm still willing to give him a chance.

Owen is a good manager at the wrong club.
If he was at a team who would be able to give him the backing and the pull of a big club he would be a great manager,
But he is not at a big club and we are a medium sized club who will never be able to give him the backing and the pull to sign the young superstar of the future (only on loan).
And in years to come things will only get worse for our club as our fan base is only really local based and most idiots prefer to support the 2 manc club down the road and the children who are growing up now will more than likely follow in their footsteps.
Anyway enough talking and heres to next seasons promotion.

Undecided on him to be honest, though I went for the option of giving him a few games next season.
I'm undecided because if you look at how we performed in his first full season we played some excellent stuff and really should have had a top 10 spot, along with getting to the semi final of the fa cup. However last year speaks for itself and was an utter disaster.
It will be interesting to see what owen coyle side we see next season.

LW, surely a good manager should be able to manage at all levels? I'm pretty sure it's easier to manage Chelsea with all their cash than Macclesfield or Accrington Stanley where the budget is zero.

Well he "made his name" at Burnley so he didn't need a "big club" then.
He has been a victim of circumstance in many ways, but he hasn't helped himself either.

Ha ha, ain't that the truth. I really hope I'm wrong about Coyle. I would love to pass teams off the pitch like we did under Colin Todd last time we won the Championship.

It will come. Owen will tell you that.

I would definately get behind him 100% with my foot up his arse before its too late. I dont need any ten games to recognise the bleedin obvious he,s useless, bloody nice bloke though.

During his time as manager I could happily pick any of the choices and probally have, due to the mixed bag of results and performances we have seen since taking over.
The euphoria of his return is now a distant memory and managers are judged on results, so he cannot be surprised if the fans react badly to a poor start in the Championship.
This for me is the season that he can now be judged on, no excuses he's got rid of the players that didnt fit into his plans and he's brought in new ones although on a shoe string budget.
This is Coyles team now and he needs to take responsibility and make it work, if not cheerio Owen thanks for the memories and lets move on.

I have made up my mind about him too, but in an attempt to be positive I will wait 10 games before I start posting Coyle out messages.

There's only so many times you can ask "Why?"
Why Kevin Davies?
Why no Sordell?
Why no Tuncay?
Why no Kakuta?
Why no Myaichi?
Why Pratley?
Why 4-4-2?
Why now, with only 5 minutes left?
Why another loan player - you'll never fucking play him?
I bet not one poster can say they didn't pull their face at at least 20 team selections last season. We'll never get a manager that doesn't make the occasional bewildering decision, but when it's a weekly thing, you know something's not right!
I'm going to write a book entitled 'Why, Owen Why?'.
