I bloody love Owen Coyle, he is single handedly taking Bolton down from the inside. Good lad.

There is a lot of assumption on here that the Championship can either be a complete walkover or that we can hold our own. The problem with the Championship is that all teams are vying for the same prize, of which there are only 3 ultimate winners - PROMOTION. Also there are quite a lot of teams in teh Champiosnhip that have been in the Premiership in recent years and want to get back - therefore the competition is going to be far more tougher than most on here will predict. For me, I believe we need someone who can and will take us up at teh first opportunity, unfortunately that is a variable which is very hard to find but I honestly do not believe that Coyle is the man. yes he took Burnley up, but how many years ago was that, now - things change quickly in football and The Championship is a completely different kettle of fish since Coyle was last in the division as a manager - it is much tougher (competition wise)

I have gone for sack him now!

But Steve Kean is doing a far better job with Blackburn - they ended up lower than Bolton last season and you already have one of your new multi-million pound players sidelined for 6 months due to injury - lol!

You don't believe that do you Chicken Boy. Keane is putting together a top squad that will guarantee promotion - that big dude from Fulham signed yesterday - another proven Premiership player. I can't see any gettng close to us.

Neither can I - as the closest will be at least 10 points clear of the Rovers, especially when the Venky's pull the plug and call in the administrators! (if you want to see the future just read the business pages!!!)

Where Do You Stand On Owen Coyle?

I'd stand on his nuts.

I've had time to really think about Owen Coyle and the team he has put together. I am convinced he will start the season with Zat Knight in defence and Kevin Davies upfront.

I am changing my prediction from mid-table to relegation zone - although we won't go down as Coyle will eventually get fired.

Unfortunately I think this is a realistic prediction apart from the bit about Coyle being fired. Sad

Its fuckin suicide to go any further with coyle. You have to hit the ground running in this league and keep it up all season. No to 10 games a big no no FUCKIN NO.

He won't start with them unless he has too.

clearly he doesn't see Knight as a starter, as he dropped him at every opportunity last season.

and then, for some ungodly reason, offered him a lucrative new contract?!?!?!?!?!?

Thats the thing about Coyle, you think "Hang on, he's figured it out!" only to see him 2 weeks later revert to type.

He did it with the 4-5-1, and the Knight decision for me is just utterly ridiculous.

Actually I don't think it can have been very lucrative, he tooks weeks to sign the thing. I reckon his wages were halved.

well whatever he's on is lucrative to me LH. In the world of football it might only be 10-15k a week but i think thats generous for a player of Knights ability.

I posted on here a few weeks gone if i see Knight,SKD and N,gog starting at Burnley it will show me Coyle is as clueless as he was last season at times if not all the time.If anyone watched the GB footy matches Sordell played really well in the lone striker position.Held the ball up well laid it off to other players well.He should start up front on his own v Burnley.Under no circumstances should we start 4-4-2 first match.4-5-1 and see how it goes.Personally my team v Burnley Bogden,Riley,Ream,Mills,Ricketts.Midfield Andrews Holding unless Sanchez is acquired,Central midfield Vela,Mark Davies, wingers Petrov,CYL.Centre forward Sordell.Wether Coyle will opt for Pratley instead of Vela is yet to be seen. But both him and Riley are better than Mears and Pratley IMO.SKD last 10 minutes only.N;gog if we go 4-4-2 at home.Coyle dont leave the midfield exposed becuase that then leaves our defence exposed which usually leaves the ball being picked out of our net.Question

Even though I thought he should have been given the push before last Chistmas, I voted for the 'give him a few games' option.

I was thinking about 10 games but am now getting so concerned about it I would revise that to 6 if things are going badly.

Last season started badly and despite the odd win providing false hope, at no point did he look capable of turning things round. Wigan looked nailed on for relegation most of the season but at least Martinez had the ability to change them into a much better side by the end.

By most club's standards Coyle's a lucky dude still to have his job but if he doesn't get off to a good start I don't see how it could be justified that he keep his position any longer.

If we do get a good start I'll get behind the guy but he's still got a lot of convincing to do.

I think he is really really rubbish. He is a nice guy for sure, he's someone I'd like to call a friend and meet for a sherbert but as a manager he is woeful. He is the football equivalent of Frank Spencer. Lovely guy, just really really inept.

I voted for "Undecided" because anything could happen.
It's like he's trying to build a Ferrari but has lost the assembly instructions and some of the parts are faulty. I have a feeling that somewhere in there is the right mix if he can just find it, but so far he hasn't.
Time is running out for him and he's getting desperate. I still hope he hits on the right combination but there's been nothing so far pre-season that suggests to me that he's even close.
It could go either way, but if my club is in the poo after 5 or 6 games and there are still no signs of recovery, I'll regrettably have to join the get rid party.

Look at Mr coyles face does it look like he,s a winner??Just using your avatar LH. No its the face of a nice but bewildered man,it would have been so much easier to stay up last season than go down and try to win promotion this season ,but it was beyond him and it may be beyond him to keep us in the championship.Forget promotion or even top half with him in charge this season.

I enjoy your posts AD, you make me laugh.

I don't know what's going to happen this season.

I have to admit to choosing that particular avatar pic to irritate a few people, but nobody was arsed about Coyle's appearance or propensity to dress in shorts and so on when he kept us up in 2010, or when he took us into the top 8 of the PL and the semi-finals of the FA Cup for 36 games out of 38 the following season. Nobody was calling Megson a ginger tosser when he beat Man United in one of his first games in charge.

Does he have the face of a winner? No, but history is full of ugly winners. Stephen Hawking for example Very Happy

To be fair LH i've read a few posts disgusted that Coyle hasn't worn a suit.

And they were there from the start.

Really? I don't care if he wears a clown costume, it's irrelevant to me. Obviously, if he wore some other club's gear then I'd have a problem.

I personally never heard anyone mention his attire negatively prior to the season just gone.
