If he is maybe he can ask Cyril if he fancies a comeback, he must be old now but probably still has more goal threat than anything we have currently.

Parky has passed on Ogo Obi so the search for a free top quality striker goes on.
Doesn't sound like Regis did too much against Forest U23s the other night so I doubt he'll be signed for the midfield either.
Not surprising that we're desperate considering our financial and legal situation.

Youri Djorkaeff -------- Kaiserslautern-------- Free Transfer
Ivan Campo -------- Real Madrid -------- Free Transfer
Kevin Davies -------- Southampton -------- Free Transfer
Stelios Giannakopoulos -------- Olympiakos -------- Free Transfer

It can be done, however wages are the issue..

Inability to pay the necessary wages are the symptom. Lack of investment from the owner is the issue. That and the ongoing requirement of EFL financial oversight and approval of any proposed signings.Fabians Right Peg wrote:karlypants wrote:Free and top quality are words that don't go together Wander.

Jason Mcateer wasn't free, he cost 5 hundred quid and 25 footballs. We couldn't afford him now.Fabians Right Peg wrote:karlypants wrote:Free and top quality are words that don't go together Wander.

Yep think your right, I remember that we gave marine a load of old training ground stuff as part of the deal. Still cheap at half the price we got about 5 mil when he moved on, don't think marine had a sell on clause, probably the most lucrative transfer we had in our history?DEANO82 wrote:Fabians Right Peg wrote:Jason Mcateer wasn't free, he cost 5 hundred quid and 25 footballs. We paid £8 million for Anelka and sold for £14 million so this was a bigger profit than the Mcateer deal.According to the accounts however Eddie Davies paid himself a transfer success payment from this dealFabians Right Peg wrote:Yep think your right, I remember that we gave marine a load of old training ground stuff as part of the deal. Zach Clough returning on loan in the jan window with a view to making it permanent should we stay up.
Roger Tamraz lined up to takeover if the above happens

Bolton Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson is confident that he will keep striker Gary Madine in the January transfer window, amid interest from Sunderland.
Madine has netted two in two for Bolton in consecutive 1-0 victories over the festive period which helped the Lancashire side leap-frog Sunderland in the Championship table.
Those goals have taken the Gateshead-born striker’s tally to nine for the season, with reports claiming it would cost £3m for Chris Coleman to bring him to the Stadium of Light.
But speaking after New Years Day’s victory over Hull City, Parkinson said of match-winner Madine: “I have been told I will be keeping my best players. We have to strengthen, we can’t even think about letting players like Gaz go in this window.”
Coleman is on the look out for new fire power, with his side lacking goals from forwards - with the exception of loan hit Lewis Grabban who is likely to be recalled by Bournemouth.
That would leave the Black Cats with just misfiring James Vaughan and 18-year-old Josh Maja as natural strikers, with Coleman admitting previously that his side need to be proactive in what could be a vital transfer window.
They are still leading the race to land Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn on loan though.
Woodburn has made just one appearance for the Reds this season and is keen on linking up with Coleman at Sunderland after the former Wales boss handed him his international debut.

Reece Burke is returning to West Ham as Bolton face competition from a host of Championship clubs to keep hold of the young defender.
Burke, 21, has impressed on loan at the Macron Stadium so far this season scoring one in 15 outings for Phil Parkinson’s side.
But his temporary deal came to an end this week and he has gone back to the London Stadium, where he could yet win over new Hammers boss David Moyes.
However, a host of rival Championship clubs are in the market to sign the 6ft 3in star.
Sunderland are understood to have registered an interest along with Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Sheffield United.
Promotion chasing Derby are also keen on Burke.

So Burke goes back and we are willing to let Derik and Dervite go? Makes no sense to me. A shame Burke is going back as i thought he looked a good player and we could have done with keeping him for the rest of the season.

To be fair to Parky, Burke has only shown his quality in the last few games, up until the end of November he'd been average at best. If he'd played like this from the start of the season I'm sure they'd have tried to extend his loan before now.
I'd be surprised if Parky let Devite go without having a central defender lined up.
