With Horlicks tablets one was never enough, even if I tried to make them last by sucking them. Had to be at least 3 at a time, and chewed. (and then they stuck to your teeth). Good 'ole days.

What the hell has happened to Victory V tablets. As a lad, one would be just about bearable, but now I could go through a whole packet and not bat an eyelid. Same with Fisherman's Friend tablets.gloswhite wrote:With Horlicks tablets one was never enough, even if I tried to make them last by sucking them. Had to be at least 3 at a time, and chewed. All the fire has gone. Have we gone soft, so they have to baby us?

Always loved Planxty. Suppose I should have posted it on the music thread. My bad.

Found this old picture of Arnold Ridley, so decided to go round to see mum, and see if she could get who it was.
It went like this.
Me..Comedy actor
Mum..British?
Me..Yes
Me...Famous comedy, he wears a uniform.
Mum..Dustbin men? Did he live in a flat with Leonard Rossiter?
Me.. No! Top British comedy, always on telly.
Mum..Bilko?
Me...No! How many British comedies have actors in uniform, not many.
Mum..Was Ronnie Corbett in it?
Me..No! He was always caught short. Needed a pee.
Mum...Don Estelle, he was in the jungle programme.
Me..No, think army, you're almost there, it's half the title.
Mum.......Oh, Dad's Army.
Me...At last, now who do you think it is?
Mum...Bing Crosby.
At this point I was in no state to continue, but she did finally get it. I'm not showing her any more pictures to guess.

I've bought myself a title. I'm now a Lord. Not a very socialist thing to do, but I'm trying to get one up on my brother.
He'll probably buy one now. 🧐

I refuse to even discuss it with the likes of you lot. I will say, I now have 5 square feet of land in Cumbria. Not enough for livestock, but I'm sure I could manage a 'Do Not Trespass' sign.

Isn't that where Sellafield's nuclear waste storage dump is...?

Are you trying to rain on my parade, Sluffy? Spoke to the secretary of the local Gymkhana, who said it was a great place to live.
