he scored some cracking goals, just not enough of them.

He didn't do it with pace. Try again.

Yes he did, he scored goals against Sunderland i believe when we won 4-1 which required pace.

Anelka was the last one with quality, pace & skill IMO.

Has the word "Sturridge" seriously not cropped up yet?

Obviously, he'd have been nothing without Davies' flick ons.

"To be honest I am sick of this Davies bashing every week. He offers nothing? What, apart from winning nearly every header when the ball his hit long, being the only striker who has more than one goal this season. Ngog can't hit a barn door from a yard at the moment and Coyle keeps putting Afobe and Sordell on the bench."

Could you just tell me how these headers he supposedly wins benefits us.Does he perhaps head them into the net and score a goal for us,I don't think he does. Does he flick them on to our other pacy striker to run on to who rounds the goalkeeper and slips the ball into an empty net. I don't think that happens. Does he head the ball up in the air and give away possession to the opposition or get penalised for a clumsy foul whether he is guilty or not. Yes, I think that happens quite a lot.
I think that the opposition these days prefer us to play Davies. The long ball game is so predictable and easy to defend against.
It's actually preferable for them to just let KD win all these headers from long balls played up to him and just pick up the runners hoping to feed on the flick ons. We're just giving possession away cheaply on a regular basis by playing hoofball to Davies and it was noticeable at SW on saturday that we played through the midfield more, looked better for it and finally got one of our biggest assets(Mavies)into the game more.
If we go back up to the PL with a long ball game based on KD at 37 we will be a laughing stock and get embarrassed accordingly.

To be quite frank and in my opinion, SKD will be nearer 47 when we get back in the Prem. sorry for being so down but I think we will be in the wilderness for some years, and the present encumbent is four points off the pace now, so an early return has become a big task 7 games in.
What I saw Saturday, albeit on Al Jazeera Sport Live, was again, two mid table teams, nothing of a hint of either making a big statement this year.

We looked a little better I thought ....given Wedneday are a poor looking side. We are 14th in the table but could move up nicely if we win the next two. So lets wait and see.

Our best 11 has still not been on the park together IMO.

It's a big if again, the problem is, as last year, Coyle wouldn't know his best team if he was told to write it down 100 times by somebody better qualified to judge than him! I know it sounds daft, but doesn't playing the same old donkies week in week out not appear the same? The man is in a hole and, despite his weekend respite, hasn't got a clue how to climb out of it!

It's hard to imagine that United paid £30 million for Berbatov from Spurs and sold him to Fulham for £5 million.

Berba would be a great foil for Kevin Davies but instead we seem to wasted a few million on Sordell who doesn't get played.

Coyle probably wouldn't have played Berba either.

Do you mean except the 2 goals and 3 assists he has made this season?

In a team that has scored 10 goals

Meaning he has been integral to 50% of our goals

Apart from that.. not much......

We didn't "win the next two", Coyle 7 pts off the pace now. We need 7 wins on the trot to get back on pace lol!
