Insulting.
Crazy appointment. He'll be out by Christmas 2013.

I'll give him my full backing but can't help but think this is a knee-jerk reaction. Why the rush? Why didn't we give Phillips a few games? And most importantly, with our defence the worst part of our team, why are we choosing a manager whose team have let in loads of goals, they have the worst defensive home record in the league.
And will I now be known as Dougie Dougie Dougie?

I hope he does well and i will support him, lets be positive about it, but what the fuck is wrong with bwfc letting Palace break the news of the new Bolton manager. Should't we be doing that? Not a good start.

I almost feel sorry for him in that he can't possibly understand the magnitude of the job he's taking on. It would be hard enough for somebody that was the fans' choice.

the fans won't be happy if we win at wolves tonight under phillips then get beaten at Boro on saturday under Dougie.

I'm surprised he's left Palace to be honest and it doesn't seem as though they put up much of a fight to keep him there.
Anyway, he's here now so all we can do is hope it works out this time as opposed to the three previous disasters that Gartside, in his infinite wisdom, foisted on us.

I hoped to give JP a few more games but then i didnt want dougie because he is inexperianced. Doesnt make sense i know. Im easy either way. Would have been content with JP but it isnt to be so lets all get behind DF and hope to god he sorts us out! If it works and hes turns out to be a good manager then we really are onto something special seeing hes inly 38.
Only time will tell but hopefully onwards and upwards!

This is fantastic news! I thought sacking Coyle might spoil the long-term goal of League 2 football, but with this apointment it's clear that is still the ambition of the Bolton board.

All we can do now is get behind Dougie who isn't travelling with Crystal palace to Barnsley tonight.
It's a done deal.

I will support him, after all he's our manager now.
Question for me is whether JP et al will be kept on.

Bolton hater, your life must be tragic. You seem to spend your time on here failing to wind us Bolton fans up, why don't you do something constructive, like get a job?
Anyway, I'm wary of this appointment, too similar to coyle! But i will definitely back the guy.

Dougie Freedman has left Crystal Palace to take over as the manager of their Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers.
The Board of the Club would like to put on record their thanks to Dougie for all his efforts over the past couple of years and their disappointment over the events of the past few days. The search for a replacement starts immediately."
Freedman has reportedly signed a three-year deal and is expected to watch Bolton from the stands at Wolves tonight.

Just like to make it official with a link to sky sports.
For the record I will give him my full support but it's not an appointment that get's me excited.

And its all been done 'in the best possible taste' Quite impressed really. Gartside didn't nab the first 'footballing person' passing, and its all been done in slow time, giveing us the opportunity to have a proper look at the candidates. Considering where we are, I think its a good choice, and wish him well for the future.
