Wanderers have added former Oxford United goalkeeper Mackenzie Chapman to their B Team ranks.
The 20-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the season following a spell training with the club.
Chapman began his youth career at Accrington Stanley before joining North West neighbours Burnley.
He also spent time in Manchester United’s youth ranks before making the move to Oldham Athletic, where he made his senior debut in a 3-2 defeat against Morecambe in October 2020.
The goalkeeper signed for Oxford the following summer and had a loan spell at non-league outfit Banbury United last season.
Speaking last year, Oxford boss Karl Robinson said: “He’s a lovely young man, he works really hard and is a tremendous example to the young people coming through.”
Chapman’s arrival provides competition for Luke Hutchinson, who is highly rated at Wanderers and has impressed since the launch of the B Team.
Ellis Litherland has also been involved with the squad and featured during their pre-season preparations against local non-league opposition.
Matt Craddock’s side recorded a 2-1 win against Lincoln City Reserves in the Central League Cup yesterday afternoon thanks to goals from Connor Stanley and Matt Grivosti either side of half-time.
The likes of Conor Carty, Lamine Toure and Nelson Khumbeni have been given first-team opportunities in the Papa Johns Trophy in recent weeks.
Craddock’s side are back in Central League action on Wednesday, October 26 when they welcome Accrington to the Eddie Davies Academy (KO 1pm).
