Wanderers youngster Adam Senior has been released.
Seven members of Wanderers’ B Team squad have signed new deals as the club looks to continue to develop young talent.
Midfielder Nelson Khumbeni, who captained the B Team last season and made one substitute appearance at first-team level following his arrival from Norwich City, has agreed to a two-year extension with the club also holding a further year’s option.
Homegrown Academy products Max Conway, who ended last season with an impressive loan spell at National League North side Buxton FC, and goalkeeper Ellis Litherland have penned similar deals.
They are joined by midfielders Matt Tweedley and Arran Pettifer, defender Lamine Toure and forward Fin Lockett, who have all signed one-year deals with a one-year club option to extend their stays.
They join eight existing players who remain under contract for next season – including striker Conor Carty, who is currently on loan at League of Ireland side St Patrick’s Athletic.
That number includes four members of last season’s youth team, who have been offered first professional deals, and goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson, who signed a new deal earlier in the 2022/23 campaign.
However, five players from the B Team are being released this summer at the end of their current deals.
They include defender Adam Senior, 21, who made seven first-team appearances after coming through Wanderers’ youth ranks and ended last season with a successful loan spell in the National League with Halifax Town.
The B Team has just concluded a successful first season in its new guise, which included 30 fixtures against a variety of opposition and additional competitive game-time out on loan in senior football for several players.
A number of new signings are also set to arrive in the summer to further strengthen Matt Craddock’s squad and, hopefully, challenge for a first-team place in the future as Wanderers continue to create a pathway for their best young players.
