Two more recent tweets by Nixon -

Q - get he doesn't want to rush buying the winger he wants, but surely we should get one on loan until summer.

Nixon - Might be able to get the one he wants on loan AFTER window. So, patience.

and -

Q - could Gregus play tomorrow or will he go in the development squad and what is happening with Jedinak and Tollas ?

Nixon - Too soon for Gregus. Tollas will probably hinge on an exit. Jedinak won;t happen in this window

We're still chasing Jedinak, Nation and an 18 year old from the Scottish 2nd Division so our spending could rise to around £2million if we get them.

Nobody confirmed as leaving as yet but it's looking like we'll have nett income if Lee goes.

I think the point I'm making is that Dougie is apparently set on getting in 6 players in the transfer window which is a fair old shake up for very little money - 2 to play, 3 to compete for places and 1 to develop. If all that comes off and one or two leave it will be a very different dressing room shortly.
In Dougie I trust! We might sign a couple of young ones next week, so he can develop them. His main targets might be out of reach in this window. I think he'll do the vast majority of his business in the summer. Dougie isn't one to panic buy!

I've never heard of any of these so-called targets. We are being left well and truly behind by most clubs in the Championship.

Freedman out.

Nat,
You do yourself a disservice. Common people would call it my'work'
You should refer to it as your 'ouevre'
It's more sophisticated.

I stick to simple words when I post on here as it's important people understand my work.

The winger thing is a bit cryptic. If the target can be signed after the window does that mean it's someone out of contract? If so who could it be?

No Jedinak for now then. We'll have to make do, but we've been OK re defensive mid in the last couple of games.

Tollas is a CB and can play FB but I thought he'd be borderline ready for first team action. So hopefully the proposed exit isn't Sam R.

I might be wrong, but I think we can still sign a player on loan after this window.

Wanderers bid for defender accepted

REPORTS in Scotland claim that Wanderers have had a bid accepted by Hamilton Academicals for defender Gary Fraser. The former Celtic youth teamer has made 18 appearances over the last two seasons for the Scottish club, who confirmed they had accepted the Whites' terms on Twitter this evening.
It is understood he will be at the Reebok on Monday for a medical.

I seriously think Dougie is building a squad this season with a view to promotion next season. Plenty of youth just like at Palace. I know he has had his share of critics but I think we should give him and Lennie a chance to stamp their own mark on the team. Their second season in management was a vast improvement from their first one.

Quite a few new players I have never heard of but maybe it is about time that he ditches some of the old guard in favour of a fresh start.

I agree. There is no way we are going to get promoted this season (thanks OC) so it is sensible to plan for success next season. I just hope Dougie can do it.

Nixon - Yes. Was at Celtic and Hamilton. Another couple coming. For 'development' group

I think you are dreaming. This calibre of player isn't going to take the Championship by storm.

It's actually a myth that recruiting unproven young players is a recipe for success. The majority of them turn out not to be good enough, the others bugger off at the first opportunity.

Brighton have it right, buying experienced players under 30 that either having something to prove or lost their way. That's why they are higher up the league and aren't £100m in debt.

Brighton haven't got 10 years of unsustainable premiership wages to pay off.

As RT points out, we are rebuilding from a lower financial base and as soon as the fans accept that, the sooner the whingeing about this season/the manager/the signings will stop. Of course buying kids "for the future" is a risk - but it's nowhere near as risky as paying £5 mill and massive wages for players who may or may not make a difference. Fact is we have to trust the manager's instincts on this one. Personally I'm prepared to invest a bit if trust in DF as he's done OK before but I fully understand that some people have no trust left to give to the club or the manager and will therefore continue to bemoan everything we do as a club.

Dawson ,Gregus,Davies in- and the Scottish kid. Wylde and Eaves back.
D'you reckon that's it for now- or do you think Dougie has something up his sleeve?
