D'you reckon that's it for now- or do you think Dougie has something up his sleeve?
I hope it's some Championship standard players.

You can't deny Dougie has been busy. I've lost track of all the names, and it's oddly encouraging that I've heard of none of them. Sick of us paying good money in recent years for fairly obvious signings.
Let's hope they get game time and soon.

Interesting to see that Dawson had a chat with England U21 team mate Sordell before signing. Whatever has been said about Marvin being out of sorts in recent times, he must have been fairly positive about the club and the manager when he spoke to Dawson.

That's a curious one about mavies signing another new deal as he still has 2.5 years left.
Apparently this one is long term, more than likely one of the high earners now.

Plus, if someone comes in with a big bid for him they will have to pay a decent transfer fee. Swansea were sniffing around him so I am pleased that he has shown commitment by putting pen to paper.

Whenever I see a player of Sparkys quality sign a new deal I can only ever think of the Anelka situation, signed but fucked off after signing it.

Nixon as been tweeting about a possible two more in - a winger (which he seems to be implying that we might get after the window shuts - an emergency loan or something perhaps?) and a right back - although he seems to suggest that we've not identified who that will be yet!?
He is deliberately being vague I guess but he's the best ITK we seem to have across the various BWFC forums.
As far as I can grasp both these two players - if they come off - would be 'ones for the future' and not immediate first teamers.
Make of all that what you will!

As long as we get a fair price that's OK because realistically that is the best we can hope for.
And to be fair to Anelka he gave us good service when he was here.

Strange one if it's true, I can only see Mavies as a benchwarmer should Holden come back anything like the player he was.

What's strange about re-signing one of our best players?
I thought Holden would never play another game for us/ 'fuck off once his contract is up' anyway?
You would make a dreadful manager.
Shame on you.

I meant it's strange to offer a player with 2.5 years left on his contract a new one, especially when he'll be a benchwarmer if Holden returns.
Why can't they wait a few months and see what happens?

Why will he be a benchwarmer ? If Mark Davies and Holden are fully fit then I can see them being our nucleus in midfield. If Spearing goes back to Liverpool as predicted and Vela continues to make progress, we have the makings of a decent midfield.

Agreed RT a midfield with Holden, Vela and Mavies would be excellent.
Only Natasha would think otherwise.

Just look at the potential of this squad. Plenty of youth plus experience. I have discounted most of our recent signings because I haven't seen them play but I think this has the makings of a half decent squad.
1) Lonergan/ Bogdan
2. Joe Riley
3. Sam Ricketts/ Alonso
4. Craig Dawson
5. Tim Ream
6. Mark Davies
7. Josh Vela
8. Stuart Holden
9. Marvin Sordell
10. Chung Yong Lee
11. Kris Eagles.

Add in the potential of young players such as Georg Iliev, Adam Blakeman, Chris Lester and Zach Clough, and there is no reason to doubt we will will be doing for better than we are now at a lower price as well - in the near future!

Ha ha, it's like sharing a forum with a load of goldfish.
Mavies seems to have become a great player all of a sudden, despite the fact any regular at the Reebok will tell you most of the games he's played have involved him going missing. A couple of good goals don't make a good player.
As far as I know Vela has never started a league game, madness to rely on him.
And Holden, well we all know the chances of him being the same player are very small.
A central midfield of Vela, Mavies & Holden will never happen. Too attack minded, we'd be overun in midfield.
