I just want to say a big and warm welcome to Jamster who joined our site today, whom I have known as a truly honest and genuine poster from my days back on BA.

I know Jamster is a big wrestling fan - I've not followed it since Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks hung up their leotards - so as a kind of welcome aboard to him I've started this thread so that other wrestling fanatics can discuss with like minded others the pros and cons of the wresting world.

Anybody think the Pistorious case might have its roots in 'roid rage' like that of which some of the wrestlers have suffered?

When I was a kid, wrestling fans were grannies and kids. OK the Royal brothers have retired and the Wryton Stadium has long since closed down, but has anything really changed?

The production of the shows has changed quite a bit and the wrestlers today are a lot more athletic than the 1980s guys, but in terms of entertainment, it's been in decline for a number of years now. Whether that's because I've gotten older and the wrestling product now caters to a PG audience, or whether the talent just isn't there anymore, I don't know. Perhaps it's a bit of both.
There's certainly things still there which you can find entertaining mind.

The Undertaker was always my favourite, even managed to get my kids to install him as theirs too. How's he doing nowadays?

I used to like 90s wrestling - a lot of it involving Hulk Hogan, Big Boss Man, Jake the Snake, The Ultimate Warrior, The British Bull dog...

Do they still have the "European champion"

I saw the first european championship match live Bulldog Vs Shawn Michaels.

It was also the first appearance of DX. HHH, Michaels and China and that dude with the briefcase.

Undertaker only comes back once a year at Wrestlemania. I think the injuries have taken the toll on him. He seems to have been around forever.
European Title was scrapped a few years ago. It's the United States title now.

I met Davey Boy Smith a couple times. He was a big bastard. The other British Bulldog lives near Wigan now and is fucked up I think.

I see wrestling has been dropped as an olympic sport whilst the likes of golf and tennis are still there, ridiculous. I feel sure it must have been part of the very first games in Athens.

It's sports like wrestling, with it's discipline, cheap to partake in that the olympics should be encouraging to get the young un's interested.

Davey Boy Smith died a few years ago. The other one is still alive I think. Unless he's died since I read about him. He was seriously messed up so he might have.

Biggest Payperview of the Wrestling Calendar, WrestleMania, is on tonight. Will anybody be watching it? Below are the confirmed matches on the card:

WWE Champion The Rock vs. John Cena
The Undertaker vs. CM Punk
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred Match; If Lesnar wins, Triple H must retire)
World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger
Randy Orton, Sheamus & Big Show vs. The Shield
Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. The Miz (Interactive Pre-Show Match)
Ryback vs. Mark Henry
WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston
Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls vs. Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins
