Now they have him.

Wigan fans believe that a centre midfielder is the last player that they need at this moment in time.

It also turns out that Coil wanted McCann when he was Bolton manager.

Old pals act.

I don't understand why posters on here seem to get excited about what's happening with the pie eaters? They aren't my club and I have no interest in them whatsoever! I'm surprised anyone else is!

I'm considering changing allegiance. After 20-odd years of watching Bolton perhaps it's time for a change. And Wigan is closer to my penthouse.

Don't do it to yourself Nat.

Next time Owen 'Fanny' Coyle might just push you over the edge.

It's not about glory, it's about being entertained. You know, the reason we go to football.

I think Coyle will produce a more attacking team.

So you enjoyed his spell with us when he produced an attacking team (that couldn't defend for toffee)?

I don't think so. You were mainly livid.

Anyway isn't PNE nearer to your penthouse?

Wigan have a better defence. I'll watch Wigan for a few months and then when Coyle signs his own defenders I'll go watch Burnley or Bury.

Nat,
More attacking than what?
a) than Martinez produced at Wigan over the last few years

b) than Coyle produced at Bolton
c) than Freedman will produce at Bolton

Have you been talking to Mike Bolton recently ?

His change of team doesn't seem to have hurt him - perhaps we should all do it.

Changing teams seems to be a bit taboo in the football world, I don't know why.

It looks like Owen has been spending some of Uncle Daves hard earned brass.

Grant Holt has become boss Owen Coyle's eighth summer signing at Wigan. Coyle's Latics last night agreed a 2.5 million deal with Norwich for their skipper, 32.

Holt joins Scott Carson, Marc-Antoine Fortune, James Perch, Thomas Rogne, Chris McCann, Stephen Crainey and Mauro Boselli in Coyle's new-look squad.

32 year old coming off a bad season given a 3 year contract.

Typical Coyle signing imo.

Chuck in Burnley, Newcastle, Celtic and West Brom nonentities - nothing to fear from these imo.

I hope i'm wrong but if Coyle gets it right this season in some sick way then they will walk this league, hate seeing it but Holt will get goals at this level no doubt about it.

Wigan were relegated and have offloaded players at decent prices (I would have been happy with Kone at £5 million!) and they are financially stable for the most part so they can afford to buy a squad like this.
We on the other hand have had to halve our salary bill in the last 18 months.
Coyle must be loving having some money to splash.
Grant Holt is not the most gifted striker but my gawd he is a never-say-die battler and I like him for that. You have to admire Norwich. Probably got the best out of Holt and they are an object lesson in how to build a strong squad on a low budget. No big name fancy dans, but good quality players all over the pitch, bought at fair prices and playing as a team. Coyle is getting sloppy seconds IMO but they'll do a job if organised properly.

That's exactly what I thought. They are typical Coyle signings. Coyle hasn't been at Wigan for 5 minutes and he's already brought in 8 new players.

I'm glad Dougie seems to take his time with his targets, quite the opposite of Coyle, who's like a kid in a sweet shop.

Of Coyles 8 signings- would you want any of them at the Reebok.
I'd take Rogne- he's a class act and he showed that at Celtic for the short time he was there
