I've often wondered about this, a newly opened bag of ground coffee smells tremendous but the taste never quite reaches the heady heights, while a pint of Wainwrights or Taylor's Landlord smells yeasty or sour but delights the taste buds to the extreme!

I can't think of any nice smelling alcoholic drinks.
To be fair, I hate that smell of walking into the office of somebody that's had a coffee.
