Not sure how much truth there is in this but the Mirror are reporting that Fabrice muamba could return to training in a month!

Muamba set to have a device fitted to enable him to return to playing football
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The surgery is said to involve the device being fitted underneath the skin, usually near the armpit, so as not to become obtrusive.
The report adds that Muamba is set to return to his home in the north-west before this weekend, with Bolton being told he can resume training soon after.

Muamba will see a specialist in Belguim next week to see if he can continue playing football. Aparantly had a secret game and played 20 mins and "felt great".
I hope he does get to play again...

I will still be amazed if he ever returns to play for us and I will be even more surprised if his wife and family let him.

My only desire is for him to be well.

I'm not being callous here but besides him being well I'd also like the club to receive a bloody big insurance pay out if he retires.

I had a heart attack about 10 years ago and my heart stopped and all that - not as dramatic as Fabrice's very public affair but it was pretty dramatic for me at the time. The key was that I was treated very quickly - I'd been feeling dodgy for an hour or so before, suspected what was happening and had headed down the road so the attack actually happened in the hospital in the presence of a heart doc and whilst I was hooked up to a monitor. So they pumped me full of rat poison immediately and I was OK. The deal is that if it's dealt with quickly, the actual damage to the heart etc can be minimised and I got away with a minor flutter in the left ventricle which after 6 months of meds and exercise had sorted itself out good as new. I still take the meds every day, but it's amazing what you can do with the safety net of the meds.
Being a bit of a tosser, my approach is that all this time is a bonus - I should have died 10 years ago. So I'm going to f****** well make the most of it. I smoke 20 a day, work out at the gym, party as much as I can and generally try to live like there's no tomorrow. There are some things I don't do any more e.g. scuba diving, but not many.
So providing that Fabrice's heart damage was limited by quick treatment, a fit lad like him would repair some of the damage anyway, and with meds and a defib there's a great chance he could play again.
I also imagine that there's nothing more that he would want and is probably driven to do anything and everything he can to get back.
As for the insurance, I imagine that any policy that covers playing time will be absolutely rammed with disclaimers. I also suspect that out of ignorance, the FA may have some rules that prevent him from playing, but we'll see.
I'd be chuffed if he makes a comeback, both for him and our midfield.

Thanks lads. ...although it's now 6 pm Sunday evening and I still have a hangover from last night so there are times when I wonder if it was worthwhile keeping going. I'm sure the hair of the dog will sort me out shortly.largehat wrote:Owen Owen Owen wrote:I'm glad you're fit and well wanderlust, I enjoyed that post.

From what I can see Muamba is an intelligent person and I would guess that from now on he just wants to be treated the same as everyone else.
