So long as John Jones had scored his 20 at a reasonable standard, I think most people would opt for him.

He could be called Paddy O' Shit Breath as far as I'm concerned, the name means fuck all......

You're blending two arguments there - 

(A) Exotic names Vs Boring names

and 

(B) Peoples' perception that goals scored in La Liga count for more than goals scored in lower league English football. (Which is bollocks, by the way...)

Of course they do, it's much more difficult to score goals in la liga than league 1 for example.

So 6 scored in La Liga is a better return than 20 scored in League One?

Not sure I'd agree with that and if it was my money, I'd be buying the one who's proven he can hit the back of the net consistently.

Depends which league we are in I suppose, if we were a premier league side id prefer the la liga lad.

However as we are in the championship and it not being much of a step up from league one I would agree with you

We've already seen this kind of thing creeping in on here already this summer.

paraphrasing but "god is he only interested in English players." Clearly there are some out there that value nationality as a skill.

If this Barnsley lad is any good then why haven't bigger boys than us shown any interest.  or maybe they have I don't know.

I just think unknown gems are out there in foreign leagues ....less scouted than the local lads shall we say. Foreigners are not necessarily better footballers than us.  But looking at the amount of English players in the top two divisions somebody thinks they are.

I don't regard Klasnic as lazy at all, he simply wanted to score goals so he stayed as close to the goal as he could - no one ever called Gary Lineker lazy.
