I have noticed you don't seem to have had pork for some time. Have you gone all halal? Shocked

Next time you're going to the match, take a detour through Highfield and stop at the butty shop called Cowan's next door to what used to be the Flying Shuttle.

Only a pound a bag and you get enough for a big pan full.

(Or PM me your address and I'll post you a bag.)

Cowan's.....Latest food hygiene rating 3/5.
Which is satisfactory,apparently.
Although Bread probably understands these ratings better than I do.

I'm no expert in these matters, but three out of five probably means they only store half of their stuff on the floor, as opposed to all of it.

As far as the black peas go, they're on sale uncooked in sealed plastic bags, which is presumably how they arrive in the shop, so I'm not overly concerned.

And they taste smashing.

I always mean to get some when I visit Bolton, but I've been staying away. I'm hoping I get there before they stop selinh them. Why do they only sell them around bonfire night?

You can get them from the mobile stall opposite Bolton Town Hall as well as in the market near the bus station. Failing that..Ye Olde Pasty Shoppe sell them as well but they are not open on a Saturday.
