I'd rather have Michael Appletonnes.

lol if that is true..... Fucking hell.
He's currently Youth Coach at Yeovil.
I've no idea if he'e even got the right 'badges' to be a manager.
IF he is been linked to the club then a more logical scenario imo would be him replacing Phillips in our youth set up and make Phillips the boss.

Wikipedia says he left that job in 2012... not sure if true.

He was youth coach at Yeovil till they shut all there youth teams down because they didn't produce 1 player good enough for the first team.

Thanks for the update fellas.
My logic still applies though that it would make more sense apointing him into the youth set up rather than making him club manager.

Has he still got a house just off Beaumont Rd?
ie, is Gartside only considering appointing the absolutely cheapest option available?

The more I think about this the more I feel Chris Hughton is the man for the job.
He's clearly good at man management and getting the best out of players, he's intelligent, articulate and has a clear vision of what he wants his players to do that he is able to get them to buy into and understand. I rate him a lot and think we're just the sort of club where he could really shine because everything here is at rock bottom and in need of a complete shaking up. I don't know if he'd actually come here but if he would I'd certainly want to at least talk to the man and see what he thinks he could accomplish in our current circumstances. It could just turn out to be a lot more than we'd have thought possible a week ago or even last night.

I was pushing for Hughton a few weeks ago and haven't changed my mind.
I reckon he'd be a good fit,given our position.
Persuading him to come is another matter.

Here we are going round the same loop we went round when Dougie was in charge. Who would be interested in taking on the job? if there was no money for Dougie etc...
I have it on good authority (Nat) that there is a healthy queue so I expect someone appropriate will be signed soon.
What would they/could they change is presumably what they are considering, but who knows?
Would someone like Hughton really want this? Or is the criterion for selection finding someone who is desperate for a job/any job?

I honestly can't see anybody in their right mind wanting to come and join us at the moment.
Gartside is a lying snake, the squad's shit, there's no money for new players, we haven't really got any decent kids to throw in, the fans are drifting away in their thousands and the general mood is unbelievably negative.
How would you lot sell the job?
I haven't got a clue.....

Easy- £500k salary per year. They'll be queuing up for it. And many of them will be worth looking at.
Do this job well and they can foresee higher things in the future

I don't honestly think we'll be paying anybody £500k a year from now on.
And I'd be amazed if Gartside didn't insist on including a "We don't have to pay you the remainder of your contract if we fire you" clause in any agreements reached.
Dark days ahead, in my opinion.

There is a list of 4 who look likely to get the job. I think one from McKay, Mowbray, Lennon or hughton will get the job

Agreed. I think Mowbray is most likely unfortunately

Mowbray is a Megson type appointment. Hughton would be, on paper, an incredible appointment in our position.
I still think it'll be fucking JP.

Whoever. I wonder if Phil will insist on a probationary period or maybe 'To end of season contract?'
He'll be after clinging on to his job so a bit of care in the coming weeks then he'll announce MMc, oh bejasus!!!

If we end up with Hughton or Lennon I'd be very surprised. McKay might take anything given his situation. Mowbray? Possibly able to keep us up.
No consolation but just watching Chelsea defend and what stands out is the work rate of Fabregas, Oscar, Matic and Schurrle in front of probably the best back 4 in the prem - they close down anything that moves before it gets anywhere near the back line. Never thought I'd be admiring Fabregas for his defensive work so it goes to show that anyone can learn how to work. Maybe Mowbray could teach that?

Marc Iles asking for "head" and "heart" picks on twitter, the head picks are apparently Phil Brown, JP and Malky.
