it's funny but now i have a 7 year old boy i'm playing most of these games again. We have a hungry hippos rip off, guess who, frustration and operation. All i'm missing is buckaroo and Ker Plunk!karlypants wrote:Still have battleships somewhere in the loft along with guess who?, could never win at Othello.Norpig wrote:
i used to have the test match game, with the ball bearing you had to roll down the bowlers arm, used to love that game!
Also my favourite football game was called super striker (i think ?) and you had to press the heads of the players down to pass or shoot.
Had the Mastermind game as well and also played Battleships and Othello, any remember that one?
I had kier plunk, hungry hippos and frustration but not sure what happened to them.

i had a stretch Armstrong and yes he really could stretch a long way! He was filled with liquid glucose, don't think Health and Safety would allow it these dayskarlypants wrote:Always wanted one of those mr. No although I'm sure one of the ann summers founders had a doh-nutters game when they were a kid and modelled strap-ons on it...Norpig wrote:are you sure you're not confusing this with your latest Anne Summers purchase KP?karlypants wrote:Didn't they do another version with one as a devil all in red that had a pump attachment?Norpig wrote:i had a stretch Armstrong and yes he really could stretch a long way! I too had 'Owzat'. I used to play celebrity Test Matches.
One of my favourites was 'Fictional characters' v 'Musicians',during the course of which Long John Silver was run out by Beethoven, with the Fictional characters coming out on top thanks to a last wicket stand between Hercule Poirot and Sam Spade.

We used to make up bizarre teams for our Subbuteo games. The only one I can remember was called 'Pot Belly Athletic' and consisted of anyone we could think of who had a big belly, famous or otherwise. The only player I can remember from that side was Vincent, the ice-cream man.boltonbonce wrote:I too had 'Owzat'. I used to play celebrity Test Matches.

You would not like it on your Nose as a wart Mr Bonce, but at your age you could probably pull it off.

The usual suspects: Scrabble, Chinese Checkers, Monopoly, Ludo, Snakes & Ladders. Dominoes came later since it was considered a more 'grown-up' game.

As a kid we used to play (and I'm totally guessing the spelling) "Finger, thumb or icky" which involved 2 teams, one of which would make a sort of caterpillar single file rugby scrum against a wall and the other team would have to flatten them by jumping as far down the line as possible and staying there until the whole team was on board.
There doesn't appear to be any reference to it on t'internet, but it was right up there with British Bulldog.
