You'll no doubt be delighted to learn that after seeing the Moon being so big and clear last night, I decided to set up the telescope tonight and do a bit, only to be thwarted after half an hour of standing in the cold waiting for it to acclimatize by a sudden influx of dirty great big clouds.
Bollocks.

You'll be shocked to learn that I no longer have my telescope.Breadman wrote:You'll no doubt be delighted to learn that after seeing the Moon being so big and clear last night, I decided to set up the telescope tonight and do a bit, only to be thwarted after half an hour of standing in the cold waiting for it to acclimatize by a sudden influx of dirty great big clouds.

After years of frustration(light pollution, trees, weather)I found I was using it less and less.
By chance I learned that the son of a mate of mine had started a science club with 5 of his school friends (we used to nick Bulmers cider from the back yard of Kays off license in Little Hulton when I was their age,and had the cheek to take the bottles back for the deposit)so as it wasn't getting much use at home I decided to donate it to their club. One of the dads is going to build an observatory for it. They live in a rural part of Cheshire so they won't have any problems with light pollution.
Nice to see youngsters taking an interest in science. I won't miss the freezing nights too much either!

I hope they name it after you, mate.
Bernard Lovell's got one, so why shouldn't you?
In years to come, there'll be coach loads of kids pitching up at the "Bolton Bonce Observatory and Museum of BWFC Memorabilia."
S'got a ring to it, don't ya think?

I still think they ought to be nicking cider! But good luck to them.
If I remember rightly,Patrick Moore had a problem with a street light and shot it out with an air rifle.
Anyway, hope they get as much fun out of it as I did over the years.

Poor old Jimmy Barnes, he would be entitled to a few quid compensation if he was around today!

I'm impressed at the way he was able to keep it all together. The Chuckle brothers would have made a great commentary team on that clip.

Read today that TV sales are going down.
Doesn't really surprise me. I certainly seem to be watching more and more on my computer or ipad.
Apart from football and the news,I don't really think I watch any 'live' TV at all, preferring to watch most things on catch up.
Most teens I know seem to watch everything on ipad. The days of sitting round the TV with the family are long gone. Maybe that's no bad thing.

I would think about dumping your TV license if that's the case Bonce.boltonbonce wrote:Read today that TV sales are going down.

Doesn't look much fun over there.
Scott seems to spend most of his time reporting on what's going on over here.
They don't seem to like you or Bread very much KP.
