Fabrice Muamba: Bolton should be wary of Reading's momentum

Wanderers have got to get it right at both ends of the pitch if they are going to pick up three points at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow.

They have to be more ruthless in the final third than they have shown recently but that also applies at the back, where last week’s clean sheet is definitely something to build on.

Reading have been inconsistent in the league so far this season but they will pose a very different test than Huddersfield Town.

They have a team which mixes young and older players and should be going into this game with a bit of belief after a great win over Norwich City last weekend, which will build up their momentum.

Wanderers will, of course, be confident too. They are undefeated in four and playing some of the best football the fans have seen for a long time.

That kind of form has got to continue. The month started with a win and gave the lads a crucial morale boost leading into the festive period.

I think it’s clear to see since Neil Lennon took over that the team has worked hard on team defending. They are more compact and difficult to break through.

Attack-minded players such as Darren Pratley, Craig Davies, Neil Danns have all really shone under his coaching so far this season because they are playing with freedom and being allowed to express themselves in the final third of the pitch.

For me, Craig Davies has led the line really well in the past few games. He doesn’t score enough goals but his work rate around the pitch is phenomenal, and he has linked up well with Chung-Young Lee.

We need more goals from the midfield players and the likes of Pratley, Danns and Liam Feeney are going to have to start scoring if the team is going to do well this season.

We have seen Emile Heskey and Eidur Gudjohnsen train with the club recently and I think one of them would be a good addition to help our centre-forward.

But I still think Bolton need to do some business in the January window, which is just around the corner, and I think a commanding centre-back is also on the menu.
