First up xmiles, I do the fatty-hating threads on here.

But I agree, it's a fucking disgrace. Before long everything will be a disease. Today it's obesity and depression, tomorrow the common cold and flu.

Disgraceful thread.

Fattist attitudes like the ones displayed by Xmiles and Whittam are dangerous and divisive and have no place in a modern, progressive society like ours.

Us "big people", (that is the correct term for us - we've claimed it back from the Lanky Twats) have feelings as well you know and we contribute to this country's economy just like everybody else.

(More so when it comes to kebab shops and the sale of elasticated jogging pants.)

You wouldn't start a thread like this about colour blind people or people with ginger hair, so why are us Big People fair game?

I would write more but it's nearly Second Lunch Time, so I'm off to buy some pasties and a couple of sandwiches from Hampsons.

And maybe some cake.

Very Happy

I think you are mocking the fat. Shocking post.

Don't go all Schiz on me now and start trying to wheedle your way out of the "fattist" hole that you and your jazz-loving mate have dug for yourselves on this thread.

Big People - are you with us or against us?

And hurry up, my pasties are going cold.

I have nothing against fatties, they can do as they like, but absolutely no way should they be getting treatment on the NHS for conditions they brought on themselves.

It makes me sick to think some people aren't getting the right pills for cancer related diseases because some fat bastard has taken up all the budget having a gastric band fitted.

Thank you - a bit of sense at last.

Nobody chooses to be fat, it just strikes when you least expect it.

There's nothing you can do about it, it's like catching a cold or developing Type Two Diabetes - it just happens.

People should be more sympathetic.

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

If you go down the road of not treating fat people on the NHS because they brought it on themselves then what about the smoking related illnesses or the drinking related illnesses? You would have to stop treating them as well. If you cause a car crash through not paying attention should you be left to die? Can of worms well and truly opened.

With the NHS in crisis due to lack of cash I think you have identified some key areas where economies can be made.

I wouldn't go as far as car crashes, but as far as I am concerned drinking, smoking and eating all fall into the same category.

By all means treat these people, but make them pay.

How can you lump boozing, smoking and eating all in together?

That's ridiculous.

If you stopped eating you would die. (I think......must google it.)

And anyway, I tend to exercise more after I've had a few beers - I practically sprint round the kitchen, knocking up cheese on toast and looking for biscuits.

The people contributing to this debate need to do some proper research, otherwise they're going to look pretty silly.

The argument could be made that the monstrous levels of tax on cigarettes and alcohol contribute more than the cost of the treatments they necessitate.

But somebody who has a clue would actually have to look that up and tell me.
