Scotland has today changed it's drink-drive alcohol limit. The change reduces the legal alcohol limit from 80mg to 50mg in every 100ml of blood.

The limit elsewhere in the UK will remain at 80mg - the joint highest in Europe.

Is this a good move and would you support it in England?

Do you ever drink and drive? Reducing the limit to 50mg effectively stops people from "just having the one" when they go out.

There should be zero tolerance of drink driving.
Get a cab.

:agree: You wouldn't want someone driving towards you who had had 1 joint or one pill or one snort of coke so why one drink? Alcohol is still a drug after all and it affects different people in different ways, so just don't do it. No grey area then.

Twice Plod has invited me to "blow on this." but managed to be under the mark on both occasions. Nowadays I just wouldn't bother drinking at all if driving.

Its simple for me, having any alcoholic drink and driving should be a ban and a re-test.

Country pub known for drink driving so the local copper is on a mission to spoil the party.
He lurks around the car park at kicking out time and sees this bloke staggering all over the place trying to find his car whilst everyone else leaves and drives off. Seeing the guy fumbling for his keys, our brave bobby is saying to himself "i'm gonna have you boy".
He approaches the drunk and asks him to breathe into the bag.
But the test is clear.
"WTF???" How did that happen says our bobby. "You are all over the place"

"Sorry officer" says the drunk.
"I'm the designated decoy."

A mate of mine used to deliver pizzas to supplement his "proper" wage and pay his CSA bill.

He got stopped one night round Christmas and the Bobby recognised him, as my mate's brother was a bit of a dick and was known to the local plod.

"Had a drink tonight, have we Danny?" asks the copper.

"Yes" replies my mate, "About six cans."

"Briliant!" thinks Officer Dibble, smiling, and asks him to blow into the machine.

Which duly comes up negative.

So he does it again.

...and again.

All clear and legal.

"I thought you said you'd had six cans tonight?" he asks my mate, puzzled.

"Yeah," replies Danny, "Diet Pepsi......."

Very Happy

Your brain doesn't quite work the same way as everybody else's, does it......?

(And that's a compliment, by the way.)

No one can ever have a zero limit of alcohol in ones bloodstream due to the fact that it is naturally produced in the body (basically through the fruit and vegetables we eat and secondly about 95% of all medicines (including cough mixtures and sweets) also contain alcohol.
