The Election

I honestly haven't felt this deflated after an election since '92 and that infamous "Well alright!" Kinnock moment in Sheffield.

Miliband's going to fall on his sword apparently - no great surprise.

But what happens now.....?

"Socialism" is a dirty word (and has been for a while) but equally, "New Labour" is also out.

A complete rethink / overhaul is required from Labour but I'm struggling to work out how they can re-engage with the electorate.

Challenging times ahead.

Nicola Sturgeon has got more votes for the Tories in England than she got for SNP in Scotland!!!

Blaming Scotland when in England in the most marginal of constituencies labours message didn't even make a dent. Even with a labour landslide in Scotland they still wouldn't have commanded a majority. 

We voted for our voice to be heard for the first time ever. We now have the Tories feet to the fire were a serious country and we deserve influence. 

The failure is labours and labours alone.

Just wait and see and there's absolutely nothing bigoted or cocky in my reply. At the very least we have a strong Scottish voice in the house. Not just "Scottish" MPs who fancy a cushy job in London who come "home" every five years. 

England voted against labour. That's not our fault.

Disaster, a Torie majority will break up the union once and for all. Not to mention the extreme cuts Dave and George will have absolutely no issue implementing now, this will be a horrendous 5 years for anyone that works in or relies on public services and I seriously doubt the NHS will survive in its current form.

It's not fit for purpose I agree with that. i suspect this will be something we will hear a fair bit about soon.

Agree but the consensus view (at this admittedly very early stage) is that under EM, the party has moved too far to the left and that's why they've suffered so badly, so my fear is that we will see a return to the "Tory Lite" days that we had under Blair.
