Don't know if there are any fans of electronic music on here, it's a good time for it though and as far as music scenes go it's probably the most thriving at present.

Anyway I listened to this album on the train back to London today, it's helped me get through a very bad hangover. Nice and chlled -

NB - Needs good speakers really

Utter shite!

Sounded like some bored mice running loose in a music shop.

Mixed by the bloke who used to play keyboards on Playaway.

Kraftwerk would be spinning in their graves.

If they were actually dead.......

Don't ever post shit like that again.

Ha when I posted this I knew you'd be one to go mad, music is subjective clearly we all like different things and that's the point of music. I can assure you there are plenty who would disagree with you, including kraftwerk.

Found this old gem from the nineties that's a throwback to the fifties. Still a hell of a lot of fun though.

I bet dancing was WAY more fun back when stuff like this was new. I'll have to ask sluffy or Nat because they're likely the only people who were around in 1955!  Smile

Just kidding guys. Wink

When I was a lad and I would have had my own band I'd have called it after this song.

You used to like the Smiths and other proper music like that, "back in the day"......

When did you get all arty and shit?

I'm not saying it's wrong - it's just "different" and by definition.......scary.

I'm going to see Echo and The Bunnymen next week and have tickets to see The Damned at the end of October. Does that dig me out of this little hole?
No.
The Damned are a bunch of pretentious shithouses. My dead granny had more punk about her than this set of  ponces.
I booked them in 1976 for a charity do just as they were breaking through. First song - great. Second song - great but they stopped halfway through to lecture the crowd because somebody threw an empty can on to the stage. Started again and immediately 3 cans hit the stage, one particularly good shot glancing the hi-hat. They walked. After 1 and a half songs. In a charity concert. Soft bastards.

Bloody hell SK you must be psychic. I was listening to Workingmans Dead in the car on the way home from work today. I haven't listened to it for ages and Uncle John's Band sounded bloody marvellous. I had made up my mind to post it on here tonight and have just logged on to do so. I'm speechless!!!  Shocked

Glad it hit the spot HP. Read a Rolling Stone special mag on JG while I was away and gave some of the Dead stuff a  listen. The music is timeless and when they go off on one it's a great wall of sound.
I was looking to post Playing In The Band which is another one of my faves, but couldn't find a decent one.

My sixth form days were given over almost exclusively to listening to The Dead, The Mothers and Jefferson Airplane. If you haven't heard it I would defo recommend listening to Anthem of the Sun,one of their earlier, more psychedelic albums. The later release with the extra tracks is the best version.

For me it was Jefferson Airplane, Spirit, Byrds, Love, Doors, Country Joe and the Fish and Captain Beefheart. Never really got into the Dead and prefer the more instrumental side of the Mothers (Hot Rats, etc).

Got the Skull and Bones album with Wharf Rat on.
HP if I remember correctly you went to Bickershaw?
Many years ago I bought an American import CD, Steppin Out With The Grateful Dead 1972. This 4 CD set had Wharf Rat on that plus some stuff that was recorded at Bickershaw including Playing In The Band.
The CD cost me an arm and a leg but all the good stuff is there with the exception of Casey Jones.
Forgot how good they actually were till I had a listen again.

Yes I was at Bickershaw SK,nice to be able to listen to much of the Dead's set on cd these days as all I could think of at the time was getting home as soon as poss and warming myself in front of the fire. Chunga's is excellent as you say but my favourite album from the early Mothers days in terms of the instrumental side of Zappa is Burnt Weeny.

Top stuff that SK. In my eyes Zappa and the Mothers were just unbeatable back in those days.
