Mrs Brown's boys and French and Saunders as the headliners - God help us if that's their best offering.

Mary Berry's Christmas Special - is she really that big a star - in fact is she a star at all?

The League of Gentlemen - is there only me who doesn't find this funny?

David Walliams - another who I just can't find at all funny.

Still Open All Hours - why, just not funny as the original was.

Ok, might watch Dr Who, The Apprentice and Pointless - but you can usually do that most weekends throughout the year, so hardly that special a Christmas treat.

As for Strictly - it already feels its on every bloody night now!

Schedule highlights here -

Bah humbug.

Can't see the Sluffy household being riveted to the Beeb - will yours?

Yes. Tubbs I believe.

Come out, come out, reluctant stool. Play not your maker for a fool. Oh, naughty guts, let go your prize. Let's cut this bum egg down to size.

Speaking of BBC4 I have been hooked on the French detective series called Witnesses. It has subtitles but it's riveting viewing.

Agreed RT- its better than The Bridge and The Tunnel.
I think you can still get the first couple of episodes on iplayer. It's worth it.

I just happened to be flicking through iplayer and spotted it. I watched the first two episodes and the third one is on tonight.

Some of the best stuff on telly is foreign made with subtitles these days. Currently I'm watching Suburra (Italian) and some Scandi Noir stuff but reckon the best of them all was the first series of Fauda (Hebrew and Arabic) on Netflix - it had absolutely everything. The only slightly off-putting thing about it was that the guy who played the Israeli secret services guy is the spitting image of George off Australian Masterchef so I was half expecting him to whip up a Yabby remoulade rather than strap a suicide vest on and walk into Hezbollah's HQ. Must see series IMO.
