I can't believe you've never been to an away game, that's amazing to me. Why not? Burnley is going to be a very interesting first away game for you. Don't wear any Bolton colours unless you are going on the coach. It will be a mental atmosphere on Saturday, particularly if we win.

Looking forward to it. Taking my eldest son (12) to his first away match too...

Good luck. I hope you (or rather our performance on the day) doesn't put your son off supporting Bolton.

Nah, Ive already got him to be a BWFC supporter!

No particular reason...I do only get to approx 5 home games a season...Having 3 kids (2 not interested in football) makes it difficult to go.

I live in Halifax so will either go on the Train or Drive, thinking train so I can have a few beers. I wont be wearing any Bolton Colours. I'm hoping for the win obviously, and I am hoping the away game encourages me to go to more. Few local matches with Leeds & Huddersfield.

I'm already going to Hudds one as my boss decided to book a corparate box for the managers at work..Woo Hoo Very Happy

Can you please stop your scaremongering Largehat.

It's Burnley and not a rebel held town in Syria.

If you want aggro then you'll find it, if you don't want aggro then I'm 99.9% sure you won't find it.

I've been there enough times to form my own opinion. Particularly when I last went back with Coyle in charge. Your fellow supporters were like wild animals, and I expect them to be the same on Saturday. So no, I won't stop warning people to stay away from Burnley fans, don't wear club colours, get the coach with police escort etc - I'm giving people advice for their own safety. If a consequence of that is that there's a Burnley fan on our forum who thinks I am scaremongering, that's a very small price to pay - sorry.

I would have a few beers in Blackburn if I were you.

I'm with larghat on this, its not the friendliest of places, you will have a bunch of 16 year old pussy's trying it on with you who go by the name of the 'suicide squad' ... Laughing

drink on the train en-route and get in the flying flute for post match refreshments afterwards...

I went on boxing day when we last met in the prem and I there was no bother. In fact we was all drinking in the cricket club and having banter with the locals. It always is best avioding situations like this your plans sound like a good one to me RR.

Its the only place ive EVER been to were ive seen about 10 or 15 chavvy little twats throwing bricks at the supporters club coaches - one of them actually had the window put through and somebody got injured...

that happened, and im sure larghat will back me up on that.

im not scaremongering - there are risky and non risky away days, Burnley and Blackpool for instance id have down as 'risky' ...places like Fulham and Huddersfield, i have down as low risk.

Fulham is actually one of the friendliest places ive been on an away day...

Your apology is accepted.

Reebok_Rebel - Good luck with having Huddersfield down as low risk.

Huddersfield is lower risk than Burnley. Burnley, Millwall, Birmingham, those are the high risk ports of call in the Champ this season.

never thought of Birmingham as 'risky'

but now you mention it, THAT day when we got to Wembley was a little bit scary walking out of the ground... Shocked

I was with my brother and two mates. We had got there well early and parked up on a street about half a mile from the ground. After the match, there were Birmingham fans waiting in ambush in three or four places, including a primary school playground. We had no colours on or we would have been in trouble. We just kept our mouths shut and walked confidently past several running battles. You could feel the tension in the air, it's hard to describe how bad it was. We had to weave in and out of the streets to avoid it all.

In the ground, they were chucking stuff down on us from above.

There appears to be a little twitter campaign to chant Fabrice Muamba's name for 6 minutes in the 6th minute...

Do you think we should? I think it would be a nice thing to do...Then we can move on...

Not a good idea in my opinion. What if either we or Burnley score in that 6 min period. Bound to ruin the tribute. Must be better ways than this.

Agreed. And anyhow I think there have been enough tributes already. Sure he's announced his retirement, but the club have offered to support him so I imagine he'll be around for a while to come and there'll be plenty of opportunities for those who feel moved to appreciate the man.
Expect a testimonial.

Heres a preview of the Bolton - Burnley game:-

Bolton Wanderers’ quest to achieve promotion back to the Premier League finally gets underway on Saturday against Lancashire neighbours Burnley at Turf Moor.

In what promises to be an entertaining encounter and is arguably the tie of the first weekend in the npower Championship, Owen Coyle and his backroom team return to face his former club, along with ex-Clarets Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles.

Much like Wanderers, the Clarets also have a new-look team this season with the club having lost and gained players over the summer period.

As for Wanderers, defender Zat Knight, who signed two-year deal in the summer, is in confident mood ahead of the derby and insists all the players are looking forward to the season opener.

“It’s been a long pre-season and a good pre-season,” said the 32-year-old. “We’ve come out of it with no major injuries and now we can put all this practice and tactics into use.

“It’s going to be tough on Saturday, for more reasons than one. I’m looking forward to it and so are the boys as well.

“The boys are going to be up for it, especially Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles who are going back to their old grounds. It’s a fantastic game first up, one that will be a battle.

Organised chanting?

I don't think that has ever been necessary at a football game, start chanting his name and people will join
