You would not believe the hassle I had though to get it done.

Three visits by engineers just to do the external work.  Then hours of time on the phone to Avis in Warrington, James in Accrington, Ash in Cardiff, Jennifer in Smoggyland, plus others I can't remember.  All because they kept changing the date for the engineer to do the internal work.. Part way through the process they cancelled the order and said it was an internal computer error.  Then they emailed me and demanded the new Smart Hub back , because I had cancelled the order.

Finally got it sorted, the guy who did it was great, but over a month of annoyance.

Sky Fibre. We moved to them from the Post Office, which was a similar jump.

And no need for a visit from an engineer.

So you've got Fibre to the green box, then copper to the house.

I've had Fibre to the house, so the landline is isolated to the phone.

That's about it. The green box is about ten feet from the house. Some of the speeds on offer these day sare a bit over the top, and, unless you do a lot of downloading, aren't really necessary.
My speed with the PO was 7mps. Shocked

You are very fortunate to be so near to the green box.

My original speed with Bt has only ever been about 3-4 mps. In recent months it had slid even further so I couldn't stream to my Now TV Box at all and it was like wading through treacle to get emails up.
I had to do something about it because we use the internet for nearly everything , saving the  time and energy needed to trail around the shops , banks, etc.

It's now 76 mps, so I'll be able to watch all those exciting Bolton games on Sky TV.

That's good. Ours is steady at around 40. We could upgrade to Sky fibre max,but I don't see the point.

As you say,the internet has become an integral part of our lives. We've had a couple of power cuts in the area this year, and I found myself floundering without access to the web.

Just the times we live in I suppose.

Had a call from BT Complaints Department yesterday , to see if I was happy with my fibre broadband.  After a good moan about  all the hassle, they agreed to give me a £50 credit to my account.

It pays to complain.

I threatened to leave Sky,so they let me have it half price for six months. As long as I signed a new contract.

Woke up this morning with blood coming from my neck. My immediate thought was that I'd been visited during the night by Nosferatu, and was now a fully paid up member of the Dracula society.
It turns out there was a much simpler explanation.
I have goose feather pillows, and the sharp ends of the feathers have been sticking through the pillow slips and jabbing me as I slept.
It's a bit much when I'm being attacked by my own bedroom accessories.
It's usually the kitchen gear that gets me. Or the vacuum cleaner.
I've just bought a new toilet seat. I'll be ready for it if it starts.

Looks great if you have the shits. Less mess and you don't have to scrub the bog clean after every time you are on it!

Knowing my luck I'd sink into it,and have it stuck on my arse. I'd have to crawl to A+E like a deranged tortoise.
