Bolton Wanderers are pleased to announce the signings of Yoan Zouma and Marcus Wood.
Twenty-year-old defender Zouma (pictured right) joins the Whites on a two-year deal from French Ligue 1 outfit Angers SCO.
The younger brother of Chelsea star and France international Kurt Zouma, the centre-half will initially link up with the Trotters' Under-23 squad following his move to the University of Bolton Stadium.
Another player who will form part of the club's Development Side is Wood, who joins after departing Manchester City.
The 20-year-old midfielder has agreed a one-year deal with the Whites and has previously represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level.

You'd imagine that at their age they'd be ready for first team football.

In the case of wood, it must be awful to be rejected by your boyhood club. You've supported them as a young boy. You joined their academy and then your told your never going to make it.

I doubt they told him that.

It’s up to him to prove them wrong

He's hardly alone in that. Clubs like City, United and Chelsea take the cream of young players from around the world and keep them on as they develop until it's shit or bust time and then they cull them ruthlessly en masse. If they aren't going to make it they're dumped. If they have potential but aren't ready to get into the squad they are loaned out so other clubs carry the cost. If they do well at those clubs they are often sold to them for a profit. Only a handful - maybe 1% at most realise their dreams and play for the team.

My mate goes down to the academy says the same. Hopefully he's in the 1% that makes it.
