China approves bear bile as treatment
China has approved the use of bear bile to treat critically ill coronavirus patients.
The National Health Commission has recommended the use of Tan Re Qing - an injection that contains bear bile, goat horn and herbs - to treat patients with Covid-19.
But there is no evidence the mixture has any medicinal value.
Bear bile, which is produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years and fetches a high price in the illegal international market.
The move to approve its use has angered animal rights activists and comes just weeks after the country banned the sale of wild animals for food.

Ironic isn't it. It was one of their weird eating habits that caused the virus, and now they are proposing another one to cure it.Sluffy wrote:9:19

Well done Johnny, really decent of you. I hope it works, and in the longer term your company stays afloat.

Can I ask? If people are diagnosed earlier with Coronavirus, is their treatment any different to those further along the line?
My understanding is that there isn't a cure att, and its really all about being able to keep the patient breathing.
As I see it, and I may be wrong, the testing that will take place is so that we can all identify who has/had it, and we can all implement the social distancing accordingly, and move critical persons out of the influence of it.
Have I got it right?

As I understand it, there are 2 strains of this where one is more deadly?

Yeah, I heard that KP, but no details. Probably best that were all scared of it regardless, otherwise it may give a false sense of security to some, after which they will ignore all advice.

I mentioned in a post further up that the herd immunity plan would possibly be a good idea that if everyone passed on the weaker strain then it would give people a better survival chance. Perhaps this was the actual government's idea when they first mentioned this but without testing it would be playing Russian roulette.
I think Norway or Iceland found 40 mutations of this so not sure if that means the virus is starting to become weaker or it is stronger.
I did read somewhere last night that the virus will eventually want to live on without killing itself through a person who has the Coronavirus so it will become weaker in time if that sounds right.
I don't think the treatment will be different from your question above Glos but I have wondered that if you were the one of the first to get it in the UK then you will have more attention on you for trying to fight the virus than being one of 4,000 when the NHS gets overwhelmed.
It's all a virus lottery at the moment.

When all this is over with tens or possibly hundreds of thousands dead and countless businesses gone to the wall, Dale Vince will be able to look down from his fortified mansion on the hill, drawing a million quid a year with virtually no tax and say it wasn't all that bad really.
This is what he tweeted this morning:
If we come out the coronavirus crisis with renewed inspiration to change the way we live that would be a great outcome. Did you know 40,000 people die every year in the UK from air pollution alone? That's double the government's hoped for outcome for the c virus of 20,000.
Memo to Boris Johnson
When this is over please make sure that Dale Vince doesn't profit any more from new onshore windfarm subsidies.

Hi Bob, we're trying to keep any prejudices off this thread (see Sluffys notes above) - could you move this to another thread please.
Thanks

Hearing of fortified walls, deaths and viruses reminds me of this Vincent Price classic!

Hey Glos, I'm staying put as much as I can. There is currently an islandwide curfew in effect, but it really doesn't affect me as I'm staying indoors anyway! Keep safe, pal!gloswhite wrote:Hi Keegan, good to see you are still hanging in there. Hopefully your government will learn from all the mistakes made so far on the viru, and manage to close it down earlier. Stay safe.

Who agrees with Dale Vince's pal, G Neville, and tax-avoiding broadcaster, G Lineker, that Matt Hancock has an 'fxxxing cheek' in suggesting Premier League footballers should give up some of their pay packets in the coronavirus crisis?
Amongst the 60 odd companies Vince is a director of, and 37 for Neville, is a tin-pot charity called Sustainability in Sport Foundation. Can you believe it? Talk about cheek!
What does it do? It pays accountants to draw up annual accounts that report that its done sod in all the previous year from the look of it.
