Saw that. Unbelievable.
It's been great fun watching Giuliani losing his mind over the weekend. I think he'll explode in a puff of smoke at this rate.

I was talking to the Kurds in my local kebab shop last night and one of the guys was nearly in tears despite his family having lived in Istanbul for the last couple of generations - they have distant relatives in the Kurdish enclave of Syria. He said that in Turkey they have to tolerate racism on a daily basis but nothing gets him wound up more than Trump's double standards after the Kurds had supported the Americans for so long in fighting IS/Al Quaeda only to be sold out in this way. Said he hopes that all the IS/Al Quaeda prisoners that have escaped as a result of Trump's actions head straight over to America and bomb the shit out of it starting with Trump Tower and his hotels.

General Mattis was in good form when he spoke at a charity event.

It stopped being funny some time ago but if we didn't laugh we'd have to weep at the demise of a once great nation's highest office. The fall is made even more stark when comparing the current POTUS to some of the men who've held that post in my own lifetime not just throughout the USA's history.
I can only hope that this current cataclysmic mess will serve as a wake up call to the American people who more or less sleep walked into this situation, most especially the Republican party which has allowed itself to be co-opted and hijacked by the far right in a way that would have made Adolf Hitler very happy indeed.

I see Michael Bloomberg has thrown his hat into the ring for the Democratic presidential candidacy. I think that now makes 17 in the running, although were nearer thirty not long ago.

I remember Christopher Hitchens once being asked about the achievements of Donald Trump, and he languidly replied, "well, he's managed to cover 90% of his head with 30% of his hair".
