I assume you got the list of wars from off social media because quite frankly it is a complete load of bollocks!
For instance the Falklands War was 1982 but the nearest General Election to it was in 1983. Thatcher was in power from May 79, to Nov 90..
The Easter Rising lasted for just 5 days between 24th to 29th April, 2016. Herbert Asquith was in power from April 1908 to December 1916.
The Irish War of Independence was from Jan 1919 to July 1921. David Lloyd George was in power from December 1916 to November 1922.
'The Troubles' isn't even classed as a conventional war!
There's much wrong with this that it is mostly fake or misleading news and should be treated as such.
Remember me keep saying don't believe anything you read on social media as gospel without checking it out for yourself first...
So from the above how many had a change of prime minister during a conflict?
The point is, we have done it before…obviously not in every war.

Your list is completely meaningless.
You might as well link your list of wars to when BWFC changed managers for all its relevance.
Most of the wars and conflicts you show didn't coincide with a change of Prime Minister - you clearly implied that they did and the few that did usually resulted as in WWI, WWII and Suez where the government of the day was failing in its war effort and resulted in a change of government stop the war or to a change to an all party coalition to win the war, or because they failed to prepare us for a war starting.
We've never changed Prime Minister during a major conflict simply over a domestic issue.
And as for me making assumptions...!
You've posted a list of wars and conflicts together with a list of Prime Ministers and assumed they were directly related to each other.
They aren't in the way you've clearly assumed they did!

Nobody "voted overwhelmingly for Brexit" White - it was a 2% swing margin and ever since then the numbers who would vote for Brexit again have plummeted to around around 17% of the population. But more to the point, Labour were pro-Brexit weren't they?Whitesince63 wrote:Rachel Reeves this morning told she was whistling in the wind that Boris and Rishi would resign over their Partygate fines as the Tory’s had an 80 seat majority. Yes, she said, so it’s now up to those Tory MP’s to listen to their constituents. Really? Like they and Labour politicians did when their constituents voted overwhelmingly for Brexit you mean? Total hypocrisy.
My question is why aren't the government running the country? Inflation has just topped 7% and prices are rocketing, businesses are failing, exports are down, unemployment is rising, crops are being ploughed back into fields, livestock is being slaughtered and not sold, exporters are facing more red tape than ever before and queuing back for miles at the ports, no new trade deals are getting done, GDP has stagnated - WTF are these clowns actually doing about it?
Perhaps the thread title should be changed to "WHAT is the Tory government doing?"

Fwiw it is generally accepted there were THREE voting occasions for Brexit, the first being the referendum, the second being used as a confirmation vote at the 2019 European elections where the Brexit Party won an overwhelming victory claiming 29 of the 73 seats available, with Labour dropping 10 seats to leave them with just 10 remaining and the Conservatives losing a massive 15 to leave them with just 4 and in fifth place in terms of votes cast!
The third election being used again as a confirmation vote was the 2019 General Election where the Conservatives won a 80 seat majority and it being a massacre for the Labour Party in the seats they previously held outside of inner cities, where the Labour voters had voted FOR Brexit in the referendum, voted for the Brexit Party in the EU Election and used their votes to back the Conservatives to deliver it in the following General Election
As for your comment about Labour being pro-EU, you are wrong.
What you meant to say was that the Labour PARTY was pro-EU, which it was but the majority of Labour voters clearly, and repeatedly, demonstrated at the ballot box that they wanted to leave the EU.
Let's not forget that the Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn was no fan of the EU and more or less went missing during the lead up to the referendum vote - and in doing so basically took the wind out of any Labour Party campaigning to vote Remain.
As I've repeatedly said Brexit has happen and no amount of bitching and moaning from you can change it and no matter how bad the consequences of Brexit are we have no other choice other than to live with them and make the most of them the best we can.
As for how bad they are at running the country I would suggest any party faced with an electorate who repeatedly voted to leave the EU and the harsh consequences that have inevitably have followed from doing so, compounded by an almost immediate two year Covid pandemic and the consequences that have flowed from that, combining with a war currently raging where energy has been used as a weapon against the west and the massive rise in prices flowing from that, would be enduring much the same torrid time as this government is.
Brexit happened.
Get over it.
Move on with your life.

If the Tory government had made such a post as BTID did you'd have been the first one shouting from the rooftops about how factually incorrect they were in what they were talking about!!!

The simple fact is he was the man ultimately responsible for bringing in the lockdown rules and then says he didn't realise he had broken his own rules! Its sheer incompetence at best and sheer arrogance to think he can just apologise and continue in his job. The pair of them have no shame and the Tories lining up to defend them should be ashamed of themselves.

I simply listed all the Uk conflicts and all the prime ministers, and stated we have changed prime minister several times during a war/conflict. Which is true.

What was the point of your post then?
I could have done the same but instead of talking about changing Prime Ministers I could instead have talked about changing BWFC managers?
Would that imply that every time there was a war we changed our manager, or only sometimes, or most often not at all?
And when we did was that because of the war or because the football team was bad and the manager got sacked and thus had nothing to do with a war going on at the time, or that the manager wanted to retire at the season and again it had nothing to do with the war at all?
Fair play to you listing out the wars and also linking to a list of all our Prime Ministers but there's not much anyone can gain from it other than that - is that all you wanted people to get from your post or is there a point you are making that I have missed?
It is also true that BWFC have changed managers when there has been a war on - so what though?

I can't really answer your question as it a 'constitutional' one and I'm not knowledgeable over such fine detail as would be required to know how to deal with the matter. The following series of tweets is from Chris Bryant (Labour) Chair of the Parliamentary Standards Committee - seems he hasn't got an answer for you either.
She then sends a memorandum to the committee. We consider it and ask the member for comments in writing or in person. If we uphold the commissioner’s view we propose a sanction which has to be tabled by the government and voted on by the House. Witness, the Paterson case.

More importantly the PM is only PM because he has a majority in the Commons. So this is a political decision for Tory MPs the House and for voters. Any Commons process relies on this same simple point of the majority.
One other thought. So far we have only heard the fact of fines being imposed. The culprits have then given their account. Sue Grey’s report will give the full story. Then Tories may change tack.

I suspect at least 80 Tories want him gone but won’t yet vote for that.

Or perhaps you should write to the government and tell them to "get over it" seeing they mention it every time it suits them?
