Possibly the biggest mistake in the clubs history. We continue to make similer mistakes. Venky's Rovers only paid £8million for Rhodes. Imagine if we'd invested in that talent. I know we're not a rich club, but we would definately be able to stretch to £8million for a player who could promote the chicken lovers on his own! But who needs Rhodes when we've got N'Gog eh!?

Even if we had bought him he would probably have spent most of the season on the bench watching SKD do another 90 minutes.

I disagree 100%, none of our forwards can finish.

I suspect Rhodes scored more goals yesterday than Ngog will score by Christmas.
Esp if he doesn't play or plays left wing

And 10 years before that you were scratching around in the third tier with the likes of Orient, Exeter City, Chester City and Burnley.

You've been spoilt in the last decade.

Swings and roundabouts.

The top flight is where Bolton belong (we've spent more of our history in it than out of it). We were not spoilt in the 00's, we were back at our proper level after being let down in the 80's & 90's. Teams like Wigan are being spoilt.

There's no need for an over reaction like that Nastase.

You've come a long way since then and then you peaked.

There's no need to 'weep' about it.

Like yourselves we can't sustain modern day top flight football, without going into massive debt.

I'm content and understanding but some of your 'modern' fans don't seem to be.

Ten years before that we were a couple of weeks away from totally outplaying Liverpool at Anfield.

Just look at the Bolton team from that day:

Jaaskelainen,
N'Gotty (Tofting 59)
Campo
Barness
Mendy
Okocha
Frandsen
Nolan (Ricketts 77)
Charlton
Djorkaeff
Pedersen

I'm not saying that team were world-beaters but it does show how far we have fallen in 10 years. That team wasn't exactly full of pace or talented youngsters but look at the class on show...Youri, Okocha, Frandsen, Campo etc.

And when the scores were locked at 2-2 Sam Allardyce was able to bring on goal-machine Michael Ricketts who put Bolton in front with his first touch. Pedersen then sealed it in the last minute. What options does Freedman have when the game is deadlocked?

I was excited by football in those days, 10 years on and look what's happened to our team. No flare, no talent, and no excitement. Will we ever see the good times again?
This sums it up - I felt like crying on Saturday watching that depressing shite. Those getting thrown out by the stewards were the lucky ones.

Kevin Nolan had more passion for the club in his little finger than the entire team of so-called footballers who took the field against the mighty Barnsley.

With the dross that's making up the squad at the moment it's hard to see things improving in the immediate future - sadly only a major clearout will make any difference now. Thanks again Gartside for standing by and letting Coyle & Co. tear the heart out of the club.
