TEAM NEWS: Evatt confirms Thomason is set for spell out of action 18564713

Wanderers skipper George Thomason is set to be out of action until the end of November with a hamstring issue.

The 23-year-old midfielder was absent from the squad against Burton at the weekend after picking up the injury in training.

“It was just a freak accident really,” said Ian Evatt. “He went to block a cross in training and the impact of the cross forced him into over-stretching.

“He has hurt his hamstring and will probably be looking at the end of November."

In more positive news, Bolton hope to have Eoin Toal back available for their clash with Birmingham at St Andrew’s.

Toal also missed Saturday’s win against the Brewers after reporting some dizziness while on international duty with Northern Ireland.

“Toaly will be back, fingers crossed,” the manager continued. “He has got to be passed by a neurologist today but all the SCAT tests and scans have come back clear and within the timeframe. We are very hopeful he will be back.”

Nathan Baxter has also continued to make positive progress with his thigh problem, although Evatt was tight-lipped over the goalkeeper’s chances of returning to the side against the Blues.

Luke Southwood got the nod between the sticks against Burton as the Whites made it four wins from five in the league.

“There have been some positive steps I would say,” said Evatt. “It doesn’t necessarily get loads easier but progression is probably a good work to use, and there has been progress.”

“Nathan is progressing. Obviously, I am not going to say whether he has progressed enough but he is not far away at all.”

It will be interesting to see who will captain the side with Thomason out?

Will it be Santos again - if so what's the point really of needing a new captain - or will it be someone else (Sheehan or Dempsey?) and having Santos being put out even further?

Dempsey should be the Captain i think, but not sure who Evatt gave the vice captaincy to?

Johnston was given the captaincy, which surprised me a tad seeing he plays along side Santos.

I guess it's no longer an issue to Santos anymore?
