So it looks like Davies who will probably get a game as striker, Young Norwegian who is not likely to start in defence but worth having to up the competition, Jan Gregor who will be direct competition for Holden and Vela as attacking midfielders and a mystery 4th target who "would play" That is interesting, but I'm concerned that of the 4 targets only one is definitely a defender - and he might not get a game. Let's hope the mystery target is Cannavero.

I do hope we have a decent defender somewhere on our radar.

Craig Davies is mean't to be a good player, hes old enough to have experience but his best playing years are still ahead of him, we need another striker so this seems fine to me. Also by the sounds of it he seems to be going for a great price.
We need a striker CB, RB and LB (although if we can't get two full backs then id be happy for Ricketts to step back in) in this transfer window, so he will be one tick off and we can hopefully concentrate on sorting the defense out.

I've just had a gander at a Barnsley forum and they reckon we are getting Davies for just £300K

What is the obsession with the name Davies ? If we could sign David Davies from the FA in some capacity, we could have a full house.

It's just to confuse the opposition, so they don't know which Davies, they'll be marking!Reebok Trotter wrote:What is the obsession with the name Davies ? If we could sign David Davies from the FA in some capacity, we could have a full house.
RT, are you going on Saturday BTW?

Aye, I'm starting to get over the Asian Flu. I just haven't decided where to sit. Tickets are on sale at Bolton Central so I will make my mind up on the day.

LOL Craig Davies. Steve Davis would score more goals.

I always thought Curtis was okay. He was a team mate of Zat Knight so communication shouldn't be a problem.

Sky Sports understands that Bolton Wanderers have bid £300,000 for Barnsley striker Craig Davies.
The offer has been made and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] have accepted as it meets the release clause [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] has in his contract.
The Wales international is now talking terms with Bolton, whilst they also finalise terms with Barnsley over the deal.
The 26-year-old moved to Oakwell in 2011 from Chesterfield and has scored 20 goals since joining the Tykes.
Bolton are hopeful that a deal will be concluded for Davies before the weekend.

This seems to be a good deal (quite cheap too)

This is the start of how well Dougie will do with the club. If these
new players make it, we will survive and move up the table. If not, we
will be calling for his head. Dougie did well by Crystal Palace and we
all hope he does the same thing for us. Here's hoping for a brace
starting with Millwall. Hey, here's hoping for a few braces this season
(finally).

At £300k this could be a very shrewd investment for once. It's a pleasant change from splashing out £millions on a gamble and a return to the type of deal that got us back to the top flight in the pre-Allardyce years. Could we be turning a corner in our recruitment policy? I know that bargain basement shopping was forced on us by our financial situation but I think it's a good thing and long overdue. We bought our fair share of donkeys at low prices in the past, but we always seemed to make a profit on them and occasionally we unearthed a bargain like Eidur or Jussi.
At £300k we can afford the occasional mistake - and you never know, we could be buying class.

I'd say £300,000 is a gamble worth taking on Davies. I only remember him playing against us and seeing his goals when he scored 4 in a game. Both times I was impressed. I reckon he'll do better than Ngog, Sordell or Afobe have for us.

Some of the barnsley comments I have read this morning worry me a bit, apparantly he's arrogant, lazy and has done nothing since scoring the 4 goals in the same game a couple of months back.
